Has something happened to Mini Eggs?

Bought a pack of Mini Eggs from the supermarket yesterday, I know about the changes to Cadburys chocolate in general, but these didn't taste anything like Cadburys chocolate whatsoever. They tasted like something you'd get from an out of date cheap advent calendar.

Has anyone else tried them recently? Really bad, tasted more like Nestle chocolate than cadburys, I wouldn't have known what it was if it was a blind taste test.

I'm off to stock up on some Dairy Milk Snow Bites in the sales, as these do actually taste like Mini Eggs should!

All Cadburys chocolate (now owned by US Co. Mondalez) is full of palm oil and tastes of excrementitious garbage. Hardly surprising since US chocolate tastes of vomit.

Please boycott Cadbury's and anything containing palm oil and help save the orangutangs' habitat - what's left of it.

M&S mini eggs are lovely - The Cadbury ones taste chalky!

Creme Eggs are not to my taste anymore, but I do like the Mars ones of the same size, I just can't find any this year yet!

CaoNiMa · 07/02/2017 19:04

That giant Ferrero Rocher is highly disturbing! It has the same effect on me as those trypopobia photos!

TizzyDongue · 07/02/2017 19:08

Which mini eggs don't have palm oil? It seems to be in everything!!!

glueandstick · 07/02/2017 19:11

Was thinking exactly the same thing and put it down to my cold.

When will they leave our bloody chocolate alone!

dalmatianmad · 07/02/2017 19:14

They taste and smell really sweet, the smell is overpowering, I've palmed them off on the unsuspecting dc Grin

HoratioHornbag · 07/02/2017 19:18

I think they taste the same. The chocolate has never played a massive part in the taste IMO - it's the crispy, vanilla-y outside that is the strong flavoured bit (and the reason I love them).

I complained to Cadbury over Xmas about a selection box not having some of the bars in. They sent me a £2 voucher... My thought process went,
"Yay £2 of chocolate.... Oh... £2 of Cadbury chocolate..."
I then folded it nicely, neatly and small and stuck it up my arse.

winewolfhowls · 07/02/2017 19:27

I've had one of those giant Ferrero Rocher.i dropped hints for months and dh had to get it ordered from the Internet. I thought it was going to be full of yummy brown goo but it was hollow with a measly amount of normal sized chocolates inside. Biggest disappointment in the history of ever.

Toomanycats99 · 07/02/2017 19:28

Not sure about the chocolate but I am sure the shells are not as crispy. They just weren't right.

These ones, they also have knock off Minstrels and M&Ms, hehehehe.

Did someone say Aldi/Lidl do mini eggs? Oooh!

TizzyDongue · 07/02/2017 20:05

Possibly i did SapphireSeptember, i thought i got some from there but I might have misremembered - I know they were knock off cadbury type ones: so possibility the poundland ones.

Good to know there's no palm oil in them - may need to visit my local pondland soon.

Creatureofthenight · 07/02/2017 20:07

They have ruined them, the bastards. They were my favourites Sad

missyB1 · 07/02/2017 20:09

Does anyone remember toffee and marshmallow eggs? They were the same size as creme eggs, really loved them! Wonder if you can still get them?

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/02/2017 20:10

They moved production from Keynsham to Poland. There were questions in parliament about the sale of the site by Kraft to developers.

SlipperyLizard · 07/02/2017 20:29

Aldi currently have a bag of mixed mini eggs, containing mini creme eggs (better than real ones, which were never that good), mini Oreo Ines and mini toffee ones. Yum!

DubiousCredentials · 07/02/2017 20:31

Aldi mini eggs are lovely. 69p for a bag I think? Not sure of bag weight but, you know, big enough.

TwinkleTwinkleLittleBat · 07/02/2017 20:35

I remember toffee and marshmallow eggs missy! They were lovely. Haven't seen them for a long time though.

Aldi chocolate is nice and I think they do a version of mini eggs, or at least they used to. I agree Cadbury chocolate is a huge disappointment nowadays. It just tastes sweet and greasy.

Ellapaella · 07/02/2017 20:35

Yes! I bought a bag last week and agree they were manky! Like they were past the sell by date (but weren't)

TwinkleTwinkleLittleBat · 07/02/2017 20:36

Ooh X posted thereSmile Good to hear the Aldi eggs are about.

KatyWT1987 · 07/02/2017 20:43

Yanbu- they're disgusting now.

Greta84 · 07/02/2017 20:48

Double Decker used to be my absolute favourite. Bought one recently and I thought it was so sweet sickly and yucky. Recipe has definitely changed

Marylou2 · 07/02/2017 20:49

They are just gross now, cloying and sickly. M&S mini eggs however are delectable.

SapphireSeptember · 07/02/2017 20:49

Tizzy As my New year's resolution was to stop eating things with palm oil in them I was very pleased to see them. I'm going to check out the ones from Aldi.

DailyMailFuckRightOff · 07/02/2017 20:50

Grim. I had some yesterday and they tasted like the cheap knock off smarties you used to get in Woolies Pick N Mix. Never again.
Aldi chocolate wins at the moment.
