For suddenly finding John Bercow sexy

I know he is merely a figure head but oh my goodness. He said exactly what I wanted to say.
I am all of a sudden finding my belief in British democracy revised.
Is it just me?
(I have been following the political crap since Trump. This for me is my first sense of hope).

I've met him in person as well and he and his wife were quite to most arrogant and obnoxious people I have ever had the misfortune to cross paths with. Whoever said "narcissist" before has it quite right. I am sure he is absolutely charming when he wants to be but was an utter cock to a 'nobody' like me.

I am glad he has intervened but don't think he went about it in the right way - by speaking out in the HoC he's made it all about him. He could have used his power to create a more unified response which would ultimately have sent a stronger signal to Trump. By making it about him makes it easier for Trump to dismiss the significance.

If Trump understood the process he could then dismiss Bercow's role. He won't understand the significance, or the importance of the invitation, and if he doesn't come to Parliament he'll just dismiss it anyway as "the worst, the worst parliament ever, total disgrace", so I can't get too exercised about Trump's opinion.

A lot of posters don't seem to understand the role of the Speaker of the House. Sure, he is not supposed to take sides, but only in the sense of party politics, e.g. Conservative, Labour, SNP, etc.

His job is to set the tone of the House, in terms of keeping order, stopping it degenerating into insults and shouting. He is also responsible for preserving the dignity and reputation of the House of Commons which is, after all, central to our democracy. It is in this role that he spoke as he did. You may disagree with his views, but there is no doubt that he was well within his rights to say what he did.

I remember a poster on here saying that she had been introduced to JB years ago (when he was single) by a mutual colleague. This colleague thought they would be perfect for each other and had talked to each at great length about the other.

So MNer was finally introduced to JB and said 'oh hi John, good to meet you, heard a lot about you etc'. His response was 'oh. You're Northern' Shock

He spoke really well the other day and I was proud of my MP.

I bet his wife has shown him this thread and they are having a good laugh over their breakfast.

It isn't what he said it's his inconsistency. Some 'tyrants' he welcomes with open arms and says nothing.

If he took this stance with them all, there wouldn't be able issue.
