For suddenly finding John Bercow sexy

I know he is merely a figure head but oh my goodness. He said exactly what I wanted to say.
I am all of a sudden finding my belief in British democracy revised.
Is it just me?
(I have been following the political crap since Trump. This for me is my first sense of hope).

I know what you mean, OP. Not sure about the bj, but there is something very sexy about courage and integrity. YANBU.

KC225 · 07/02/2017 02:03

No. No. And thrice no

glueandstick · 07/02/2017 02:49

Complete side note (am not getting dragged into these depths of deviancy)

A reporter said he was one of three gatekeepers who get to decide who can address the HoC. Cannot work out who the other two are (not TM because I understand she's a bit pissed off today about it ) any one of you sick puppies know?

lizzieoak · 07/02/2017 03:09

The Speaker of the Lords and (I think) the Lord Chamberlain.

I've never fancied a Tory before (!), but he's very human & quite funny.

Bercow is a prat, his job is supposed to be NON biased he has overstepped the mark and needs to resign

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 07/02/2017 03:50

I think you've misunderstood JB's job. He is responsible for the reputation of the House of Commons, among other things, so his statement - whether you agree with him or not - is entirely appropriate. It's nothing to do with party politics, which is where being impartial would come in.

LinksofParis · 07/02/2017 07:45

chuffin do you think it's 'biased' to say no to racism? Hmm

TheNaze73 · 07/02/2017 07:58

Is that you Sally?

He deserves to be sacked. Agree with what he said however, wasn't his job to say it.

LordPeterWimsey · 07/02/2017 08:05

I'm not convinced he broke the rules of impartiality. He said the House was against sexism and racism, and in favour of the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. Is that a party political view?

LinksofParis · 07/02/2017 08:06

Agreed Lord

IrenetheQuaint · 07/02/2017 08:07

Although he nominally used to be a Tory, JB was always better friends with Labour MPs and practically all the Tories voted against him as Speaker. So I suspect he is rather enjoying pissing them off by being more principled than they are.

KathArtic · 07/02/2017 08:08

Her shouldn't use his position to shout his opinions, he's supposed to be impartial. Not sure how he can carry on now. Fool.

Camomila · 07/02/2017 08:11

I think it was totally his job as speaker of the house to say it, being opposed to sexism, racism, and an independent judiciary isn't biased...its upholding various laws, bills, and other bits of our uncodified constitution (god you can tell it's been a while since uni).

Isn't that sort of the job of the speaker to set the tone of what is acceptable in the hall? So robust debate yes, outright slanging matches he does tend to 'order, order!' them all.

It's not restricting free speech because no one's saying Trump can't come to the UK at all and spout his views. Just in that particular building which is symbolic of our liberal democratic values (as in liberal democracy not Lib Dem type Liberal)

Megatherium · 07/02/2017 08:11

He has the constitutional right to veto people addressing the Commons. Therefore clearly his opinions must come into it, and he should express them rather than keep quiet. He is not the fool in this.

PickledCauliflower · 07/02/2017 08:17

He's a hypocrite.
He has hosted various human rights abusers, and basically kissed their arses.
Looking for a bit of limelight I suspect.

toomuchprosecco · 07/02/2017 08:39

He is the MP for where I live, he is a funny little man!

Bercow?! Really?! Shock YABVVVVVVU Grin
But I wouldn't say no to Theresa May Blush

birdybirdywoofwoof · 07/02/2017 11:56

I've always thought he was nice.

I would draw the line at full intercourse though. A n appreciative pat on the shoulder would suffice.

Topseyt · 07/02/2017 13:53

I was never keen on Bercow, until yesterday.

JobsAGoodun · 07/02/2017 13:57

I know it shouldn't matter but he is very short.

And a tory. And probably a narcissist.

CaraAspen · 07/02/2017 14:03

Attractive imo:
David Cameron and - rather unbelievably - George Osborne...perhaps more for the cool suits but still...
