They are women. Granted not biological women. But imagine if you were born male, except you were the same person you are. Wouldn't you be a bit angry if people turned around to you and said you couldn't be your actual gender? Because that's what you're doing to transgender people. Honestly the transphobia on this site is shocking.
Feminism lies with us, the teenagers, as the next generation of feminists. And we choose to accept, not to exclude. And I know I'm younger than most of you, but it doesn't mean that I don't have dear family members, and friends who are transgender (both male to female, and female to male), and although I should not talk over them, standing up for them in a platform riddled with transphobia is something I can do. Being a young person doesn't invalidate my opinions, or my validity to defend trans people. I'm just as able to argue, and defend my views as an adult. Just as your age doesn't invalidate the fact you are being exclusionary and a smidge transphobic. I am a queer person, and I view the trans community as my dear dear friends, because we are all in the LGBT community together. However that is not saying that we shouldn't all advocate for transgender people, whatever our background/sexual orientation. Transgender people are people, just like you and me, and should be respected and treated as such.
However, I stand behind my original point, that banning books is not the way forward.
(Oh, and thank you- you've given me just the thing to talk about for my next essay.)
