'The opposite of depression is not happiness, but vitality.' (Andrew Solomon)

OwlinaTree · 05/02/2017 09:09

Procrastination is the thief of time. Dickens. Should be written in every university library!

GreatScot8 · 05/02/2017 09:09

"There are no steps, there's just staggers" - Robert Plant

OneMillionScovilles · 05/02/2017 09:15

Andrewofgg I've never heard the second part of that quote - crying!! 😂😂

chocolateworshipper · 05/02/2017 09:21

"I've never met a chocolate I didn't like"

This too shall pass.

When life gives you lemons, cut a slice and put it in a large vodka.

Flipflopbanana · 05/02/2017 09:27

Love all, trust few, and always paddle your own canoe.

MongerTruffle · 05/02/2017 09:33

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in fruit salad.

dementedma · 05/02/2017 09:33

In my office I have "Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way" General Paton.

"In the end, only kindness matters." Jewel.

Polkadotties · 05/02/2017 09:37

Looking at my gorgeous horse makes my heart happy

"Well behaved women seldom make history"

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
Have lived my life by this

dementedma · 05/02/2017 09:42

If you follow all the rules, you miss all the fun.

hotwater · 05/02/2017 09:47

Agree with Polkadotties Smile and would add 'God took a handful of the southerly wind and from it he made the horse'. I don't know where it comes from.

Also: 'each man kills the thing he loves. The brave man does it with a sword; the coward with a kiss.' It's Oscar wilde, I love most things that he said.

My favourite poem: Love After Love by Derek Walcott.

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Junebugjr · 05/02/2017 09:49

I can't remember the exact wording but the sentiment has stayed with me.
The worst things committed by man were by those who were following rules and not by those breaking them.
It makes me stop and think for myself when I'm told something by someone in authority.

SpongebobRoundPants · 05/02/2017 09:50

When life gives you lemons, throw them back at life and shout 'FUCK YOU!'

MumBod · 05/02/2017 09:52

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."

"This above all - to thine own self be true."

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

"Come what come may, time and the hour runs through the roughest day."

"Self-love, my liege, is not so vile a sin, as self-neglecting."

"Our doubts are traitors,
And make us lose the good we oft might win,
By fearing to attempt"

All from Shakespeare. What a brilliant human he was.

RueDeDay · 05/02/2017 09:52

"If you can't be good, be careful" - my Mum

MooMooTheFirst · 05/02/2017 09:59

Rue my lovely lovely classroom assistant says that, but follows it with

'If you can't be careful, remember the date!'

GrinGrinGrin

Phantommagic · 05/02/2017 10:51

Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. It quite possibly wasn't Einstein who originally said this but I still love the sentiment.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 05/02/2017 11:02

Love these. Another one I like is..

If you always do what you have always done
You will always get what you always got.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 05/02/2017 11:06

Outside of a dog a book is mans best friend...inside of a dog its too dark to read

Love this one:

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent
