Daesh know what they're doing. They want to provoke the West into harsher crackdowns on Muslims. They want greater numbers of Muslims to be radicalised. They want a full scale religious war (like Bannon!), and they are desperate for the US to fully engage. Their ultimate aims are apocolyptic in scope.

Bannon and Daesh want almost exactly the same thing: disruption and violence which destroys the existing state - then they sweep in for winner takes all.

Each thinks they're gong to be the winner standing over the carnage of the ordinary people. In fact, they could both be winners, carving up the world between despots.

What's absolutely certain is the ordinary people will be the losers if this happens. They're just grist to the despots' mills.

Thing is, Daesh can't touch the US (or UK) in a military fight.

Thanks is for the answers in the SWP business. I have been on demos since I was a kid (my mum took me on cnd marches in my buggy) and there are always some groups there you don't like or agree with. There is also often people who are just hitching a ride for a bit of trouble making. I think we have to accept this is going to happen and just get on with it and ignore. Trying to dictate who is and isn't allowed to be part of an open protest, particularly one that is fighting against closed borders, makes me very uncomfortable.
