Many, many people took recreational drugs in the 90s. Where are they now?

I'm not a drug addict and none of my friends were at the time, we just took Es at the weekend, sometimes other drugs. We all went to work or college, seemed like everyone else did this too. We had a great time, weekends were for dancing and hugging, I didn't get on with drunk people and one night stands and it suited me much better.
I moved away from where I grew up, nice area to another nice area.
When I mention partying in my youth to other mums where I live now, they look at me as if I'm an addict who needs help Confused.
Are they all pretending? There were thousands of us doing this so where are they now? And why do people who never took drugs appear to feel so morally superior? One of the women where I live openly talks about cheating the system financially yet looks at me like I'm scum because I went out and had fun 20 years ago. (And probably once a year now!) I feel that because I mentioned this one evening in a pub I have alienated myself from the local mums.

Yeah not coke

CoteDAzur · 11/02/2017 19:46

I was't thinking about coke (never been my thing, really) but I haven't had any bad effects the next day after the few times I did it, either.

I guess it depends on the amount you consume. The problem I had with it was the difficulty getting to sleep, not the next day.

CoteDAzur · 11/02/2017 19:47

Some people drink lots of alcohol when on coke (because you don't get drunk then) and they get the mother of all hangovers the next day.

Strongmummy · 11/02/2017 19:49

You're lucky Cote. I loved it....it really didn't love me. I could easily have taken it way too far.

Strongmummy · 11/02/2017 19:50

Who are these people you know who don't get drunk while on coke and drinking?!?!?!

Dulcimena · 11/02/2017 19:54

I could've written that, strong. I've never been a drinker, didn't really enjoy speed, pills were always hit and miss, acid and coke however...

CoteDAzur · 11/02/2017 19:56

Um everybody? You can drink huge amounts of alcohol on coke without getting legless.

In fact, a thin little line of coke will instantly sober up someone who was slurring his words and bumping into walls a minute ago.

Dulcimena · 11/02/2017 19:57

I think the coke and alcohol sort of cancel each other out (or that's the perception anyway): relaxed from the alcohol but alert due to the coke.

Strongmummy · 11/02/2017 19:58

I still miss it to be frank, especially when I drink champagne!!!! I just try and remember the come down and having to right off the next few days as I was so down and anxious

Strongmummy · 11/02/2017 19:59

I know it creates a very different high if you mix them and it's more dangerous, didn't realise it cancelled the effects of booze!!

Dulcimena · 11/02/2017 20:02

Yeah. I know what you mean. Different times though, different playgrounds and playmates.

I enjoy the nostalgia more than I reckon I'd enjoy trying to relive it Wink

CoteDAzur · 11/02/2017 20:26

Dulcimena - I hear you re acid. 10 hours of smooth high, amazing wonder and great conversation, dance if you want to, or just lie down and enjoy the amazing show unveiling on previously blank walls and marble floors. Never a hangover. Just wonderful.

Chickenkatsu · 11/02/2017 20:40

Cote: have you heard of a new version called LSZ?

perhapsiwill · 11/02/2017 20:41

Oh hello Smile. Are we still here?
I did a line of coke last year, to sober me up! I think it's probably the only thing I could do now. The mind altering drugs would be too much of a head fuck I think, though they were brilliant fun. Like Dulcimena said, different playgrounds and playmates.

I used to have a lime green tank top that said:

Suicide Tuesdays anyone?

Still, the best of times Grin

Strongmummy · 12/02/2017 09:13

it's not sobering you up though. It's enabling you to drink more as you don't feel as pissed. You are still drunk, plus high. I thought your starting premise perhaps was that you no longer use, it was all in the past etc....etc.....?

CoteDAzur · 12/02/2017 09:18

Wtf? If you are going to accuse me of lying, start a new thread so I can properly bury you in more than the few posts that remain on this one Hmm

scaryclown · 12/02/2017 09:27

I took coke once whilst drinking. It made me feel like i did when i was fit, healthy and sober. What's the point of that?!???

perhapsiwill · 12/02/2017 10:19

Strongmummy. I did say that I have taken something about once a year since then in my original post.
I might be wrong but I think you said you were leaving the thread days ago because you didn't think reminiscing about it was tasteful, you then came back and went on to reminisce about great nights out and that you miss coke!

Interestingly enough I must be very self centred as when I took the line of coke last year I failed to think about the victims of crime. Have managed to boycott nestle for 15 years though. Grin

Strongmummy · 12/02/2017 10:40

Not sure how saying I miss coke, but stop myself by remembering how awful it made me feel, plus don't want to fund organised crime is being nostalgic!!

Of course perhaps, you also feed the hungry and house the homeless don't you. I'd forgotten about how saintly you were.

I've tried to get off this fucking thread, but It keeps popping up in my inbox like some bad trip.

bummymummy77 · 12/02/2017 20:10

I don't think I've ever done coke without drinking a shit ton. I rather chop my arms off than have another come down ever again.

WaitrosePigeon · 12/02/2017 20:30

Bit much strong.
