Enthusiasm, who is exploiting whom? The clients have agreed to take part and presumably are being paid well to have therapy in the public domain.

I don't think there's any sort of confirmation that she is his child and he hasn't spoken about the situation. The mother doesn't seem to have legally pursued it to prove he is. The mother was involved in the phone hacking trial and was a paid informant to the NOTW and would 'honeytrap' stories for them and was a drug addict.

Although there's no reports of the mother pursuing legal avenues there are lots of stories about her selling stories and arranging publicity stunts with the child such as showing up unannounced with her at public events and dumping her in front of her in front of the press and releasing open letters for her father 'written' by her aged 4 to the press.

She also seems to have gone very quiet of late despite previously being very keen to talk to the press. I wonder if perhaps that DNA test didn't give the result she wanted?

I know they are being paid

But the relationship between a client and therapist is one that it is fundemental that a clients vulnerability isn't in anyway exploited it could be so incredibly damaging to them what they choose to share then, maybe they have seen the edited version and are fine with it but that is not to say they will be in a years time and then it's all too late their fears and feelings
have been exposed to all

That is what agents and media advisers may do exploit their product its very sad that it is deemed ok for a professional therapist to act in such a way

I wonder if Calum will ever be truly happy?

Report

Well he looked happy leaving one strip club to go to another, last night.

I watched the previous BB that he was in, when a sexual assault took place, Calum's reaction was "it's only a boob".

Why has he got the reputation as a Gentleman? Is it because he frequents 'Gentlemen's Clubs'?

He comes across as an arrogant sexist arsehole.

Enthusiasm, yes, but they are adults who have made a choice, hopefully in the interest of personal growth as well as monetary gain.

Yes, they may regret their decisions a year from now....that is a reality for all of us, whether or not we live out our lives in the public domain . Their choice surely and theirs to regret or not.

I'm not sure how the therapist can be 'blamed' for that decision? Agreed, Danniella is extremely vulnerable but it was still HER choice.

Therapists are always having to reflect on their work with their clients I'm not sure how any therapist could possibly justify working with a vulnerable client so publicly

And as for going to therapy and regretting what is said to your therpaist yes we might but it's not shared with the public it's kept in that room your hopes/fears/desires/shame/ is between you and your therpaist that is the very essence of psychotherapy/counselling

The programme is not

I have found the other episodes fascinating but this one was really uncomfortable to watch. She seemed to be interrogating and criticising him. I didn't like the way she kept referring to stereotypes - for example, children of alcoholic parents are usually x, y & z so you must be otherwise you must be in denial etc. I also thought a lot of it was based on her own personal judgements such as the whole 'gentleman' topic rather than professional judgements. Isn't therapy meant to be about what is going on in the 'inside' rather than the 'outside' yet they both focused a lot of his physical appearance. I agree with some of the other comments that she was different with Calum & she really grilled him. Having read up on her I know she was once an addict so maybe using her own personal experience to analyse him.

She concluded the Calum has a problem with alcohol (even if he didn't know it), is insecure, doesn't know who he is, lacks friends, has commitment problems, needs to be sober and find the real him. But didn't really offer any advice on how to do that given his background/upbringing etc. I felt a bit sorry for him at this point and if I were him I'd probably think FML, I'm going to the pub!

She put her own projections into his head. That's not a therapist!!!

She's a quack. I also think that he is - for whatever reason - a vulnerable person, and if she's had Kerry Catona, Daniella Westbrook etc, it's just hideous as these people don't need to be subjected to this kind of vehicle. They are all deeply troubled, scarred and vulnerble. Telly needs to be a shit load more responsible for the stuff they show. this is dangerous to the subject, to therapy as a healing mechanism and to those this programming is aimed at.

Just another thing he did for the money.

There were often times he came across as slightly wild. Too intense. The adult version of a small child trying to lie about something trivial.

I have little sympathy for the man. His dad was indeed a selfish drunk but we all have choices. He didn't have to choose a shallow celebrity existence.

As a psychotherapist myself I think this programme is poor. The participants enter televised 'therapy' of their own free will but it's unlikely to help them because there is no confidentiality and no real therapeutic relationship. It's unlikely to help anyone else understand Therapy because of the editing and the sense that a solution is relatively easy, that's damaging to those who are in treatment and view this fiction. I seriously question the quality of this therapist who puts good TV before her ethical responsibilities. It's certainly an example of why people need to choose very very carefully when selecting a therapist in private practice.

The money was more alluring than showing our profession in a good light youok and IME narcissistic people never make good therapists which IMO she is.

If she isn't Calum's daughter and he had nothing to hide....why didn't he talk about it??

He's 'allegedly' frequented strip clubs and been a drug taker for around 17 years now that I've come to understand, and he is almost as far from a gentleman as you can possibly get. You can see him getting angry when people don't agree he is the person he's trying to portray, ridiculously passive aggressive and imo not as pretty as he thinks he is.

Crowd agree. One big ego trip. I've come across this therapist in RL. V patronising that I was wasting a lot my time in the NHS. This sort of programme is the reason I keep one foot in our ethical and evidence based public health system. Anyone can rent a room (or whole clinic) in Harley Street.

I haven't watched it. I did see the ad though. She looked about ready to mount him in the clip I saw.

I can't really fathom the idea of a decent, professional counsellor conducting a therapy session with their celebrity client on TV.

Whatever next? Priests in the confessional with a live feed to channel 5? Hmm

I haven't watched it yet but I think he did allude to the little girl being his a few years ago but I can't remember where I read that. Think his mother had some involvement with her for a while possibly.

I don't have any strong feelings about him either way. He's super pretty but doesn't seem very interesting.

Interesting how I'm Celeb BB he talked about working hard to change his reputation as a lady's man then before you know it he's down the strip club. I don't think he'll ever fully shake his reputation and I think that's because of his own actions.

I think he came across as over-sensitive on BB.

Although I do not know him personally a friend of mine has been around him and said he's messed up and not very nice at all. Surely he must be embarrassed making a 'career' out of being a footballers son?

What does he do to maintain the celeb lifestyle, he can't be that much in demand? I understand that some Z list women become seasonal 'yacht girls' i.e. escorts during Cannes to keep them in flash handbags but what do pretty boy Z list men like him do? Occasional appearance like this and club PA's can't keep a big Essex pad and flash car all year round.
