Might out myself here but I used to frequently talk to him! He followed me on Instagram and added me on ️snapchat and used to send me snaps of him in the bath 🙈😂If I find the picture or can reload the messages il post them, he's delicious but he's far from a gentlemen and knows how goodlooking he is, not a great conversationalist either

Are you young, hot and blonde?

I wouldn't thank you for photos of him in the bath. He looks like he needs a good wash, mind.

Crowdblundering & YouOKHun - I'm curious. How is it anyone can rent a room and call themselves a therapist when dealing with incredibly vulnerable people?

YouOKHun · 02/02/2017 21:52

lillybee 'therapy' is largely unregulated and includes a catalogue of unproven 'woo therapy'. It's possible to train in some sort of non-evidenced based therapy, rent a room and call yourself a therapist. The trouble with these weekend courses and such like is that these therapists don't know what they don't know, so are not able to recognise or assess vulnerability and don't know when a therapeutic intervention may be dangerous, nor do they have a relationship with GPs and psychiatrists, nor do they know when to belt up and refer on.

On the other hand in the NHS they want a minimum of MSc and constant monitoring and training. Of course there are good and bad therapists in the NHS but you wouldn't get away with the Therapy seen on this programme and I don't know anyone who'd sell out in the name of TV Entertainment. There are lots of great therapists working in private practice but it's worth going through a professional body like (for example) the BABCP or the BACP to find an accredited one.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/02/2017 22:01

you can also set yourself up as being a consultant many different aectors and really have little knowledge (apart from medical this is protected im sure others are too)

Therapist is a generic name often used to describe forms of therapy

Counselling and psychotherapy is interchangeable, psychotherapy is often a more indepth form of therapy and those who are trained at a higher level will often use either counsellor/psychotherapist

To be recognised by professional bodies you will have had to have a certain level of training, had your own therapy with an accredited therapist, practised so many hours and had clinical supervision on an accredited course. The requirements for psychotherapy are higher as training is more in depth

People do pray on those that are vulnerable professional bodies are there to protect clients and therapists and to keep standards high

I would always advise someone if they are asking about therapy to look on the BACP website or UKCP for listed therapists

This programme doesn't represent one to one counselling/psychotherapy at all it's damaging to the profession and far more importantly it could be to those that have appeared on the programme how she justifies herself in her supervision I don't know but I guess the incoming cheques help ease her professional conscience

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/02/2017 22:10

Sorry I know questioned was directed at me but quite knowledgeable about the profession Wink

quarkinstockcubes · 02/02/2017 22:22

I only saw the Colleen Nolan one and it was a load of crap. I really wonder are they that desperate to be on TV? If you have issues by all means go to a real counsellor, this is like a Sleb Jeremy Kyle.

ILookAtLifeFromBothSidesNow · 02/02/2017 23:06

Thank you for all the responses. Some posters clearly have for more knowledge than me about the counselling/therapy process.

I concede that I probably need to reconsider the therapists integrity and ethics Confused

There is a good Therapist working in Guilford. She works in private practice at the Eaves. The Therapists name is Denice Joseph, works with all areas of life one of her specialities is Depression .. highly recommended.

longwayoff · 20/08/2018 11:05

Wtf therapy on tv? Is there nothing in the lives of these people that's not for sale? How is that therapy if there are off limits areas? Revolting, edited titillation..
