I'm relatively new here. Are we allowed to mention a Portuguese Supreme Court ruling today about a missing British child in Praia da Luz.

Don't want to break any rules. Thanks.

@Rafals

It's ok. Who cares really at the end of the day.

Tomorrow it is Trump and Brexit, yawn, although I enjoy the banter.

I think that's part of the problem.

I'm not sure people really understand their own legal responsibilities when they publish stuff on the internet, which doesn't help really.

meltownmary · 31/01/2017 21:39

Rafals,

I think we are all in a safe place on this thread anyway in that regard.

Up to MNHQ if required.

i just went off to make tea and toast and waiting for the kettle to boil it dawned on me that PBP was previously banned poster Smile But thanks for those who told me.I only worked out at the weekend how to do smileys & send flowers, I am getting there!

I do remember when it first happened there was a massive divide of opinion, I'm almost glad I wasn't on MN then. Makes sense now.

mycatwantstokillme1 · 31/01/2017 21:44

I've been hibernating this winter and some mornings when it's grim I come onto MN (it's bloody addictive). Although I just said that I was glad I haven't been on MN for ages, that's not completely true. Through various threads here I've read the back stories of Zombie and Biscuits and I wish I'd known them.

Sorry, completely off of this topic. It just made me think, how some topics can cause such a divide, understandably and the other side of the coin is that there are threads like those that bring everyone together, really a wonderful thing.

meltownmary · 31/01/2017 21:44

my cats.

Many people think new members are not new members if you understand me.

But why is that their problem? The hierarchy of membership or what?

Sheesh.

Definitely meltown.

meltownmary · 31/01/2017 21:46

BTW how does one search a poster's history here?

Not that it's intuitive or anything lol.

Must be a bit of a pastime for some.

There is quite a lot of discussion elsewhere on the web on this. I'm one of those irritating people who like to read all opinions and keep mine to myself...

mycatwantstokillme1 · 31/01/2017 21:50

meltownmary I don't know if there's an easier way but if you put someone's username in the search box it brings up things they've posted/commented on, I don't know how far back. That's how I got to read about zombie and biscuits

sailorcherries · 31/01/2017 21:53

I read the news article, there was nothing 'conspiracy theory' or 'speculative' about them.

Essentially the McCanns sued Amaral for libel over his book in 2015. Initially Amaral had to pay 500,000 euro in damages. However, Amaral appealed against this decision and won in April 2016. The McCanns then launched a counter appeal to the Portuguese Supreme Court (I think) to revoke the appeal and, it has been reported, that they lost. In essence they cannot stop the publication of the book, will owe Amaral the damages paid and the McCanns had frozen legal fees during this time that will need paid.

No conspiracy theories needed there.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 31/01/2017 21:57

Blimey was it only 2015. Seems like it's been going on for longer than that.

meltownmary · 31/01/2017 22:03

@mycats

Thanks for the info.

But that's five minutes out of my life that I will never get back for no good reason!

Still, it's good to know. Now I know how some old timers might check that regularly, as I have found out WRT to myself. But honestly.

It's a fast moving discussion/debate/banter site.

So be it. None of my business at the end of the day what posters do!

Has anyone read the book? No discussion of its details, just wondering who's read it

Costacoffeeplease · 31/01/2017 22:03

I've read it

Peregrina · 31/01/2017 22:06

I read a web version of Amaral's book and then read Kate McCann's book.

I still can't see it being published here though.

I always imagine that in 100 years time, the case will feature in one of those 'unsolved mystery' stories which pop up from time to time.

RockyTop · 31/01/2017 22:06

I've read it, and would suggest that anyone interested in the case, whatever their current opinions, should read it.

ArmySal · 31/01/2017 22:14

You do seem to be writing a little 'testy' now OP.

meltownmary · 31/01/2017 22:17

Army

Thanks, but why do you say that? Be interested to know.

OP posts:
ArmySal · 31/01/2017 22:19

Some of your comments just seem a little snippy really.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2017 22:22

I thought that Army.

TrippyMcTrapFace · 31/01/2017 22:23

OP, what is it you want to discuss about the case? That's what your thread is supposed to be about but your posts suggest otherwise. You've said very little so far with regard to the subject you originally posted about. Confused

TrippyMcTrapFace · 31/01/2017 22:23

And I thought that too, Army

meltownmary · 31/01/2017 22:25

Army,

I need more than that! You should back it up. But what do I know, I am a newbie.

But no matter. It's only a shaggin website full of fucking shyte anyway isn't it?.

See what I did there? Thought it was open, free and full of debate and fun, but no matter.

Not personal to you either BTW.
