Trump should be happy. He's top of something.
The fastest President to get more than 50% disapproval.
8 days vs over 500 for Clinton, the previous "best".

According to the front page of The Express, 99% of British people agree with the ban

Did they ask their own readers? Like before

Surely the point with NI is that you don't call the Shinners the RA. Doesn't matter about the crossover. And he wasn't admitting to the UDF etc - he was basically saying "poor POOR totally-squeaky-clean DUP having to work with terrorists: but Trump isn't one, so that's ok".

Oh & re: visit timing - that'd be William & Harry's mother Trump said he wanted to sleep with; and William's wife he said the scummy things about when she was photographed topless. He doesn't deserve to be shat on by one of the corgis.

Maybe they went to a BNP meeting? And asked a couple of normal people on the way home to bring it down from 100%?

Ontopofthesunset · 31/01/2017 09:28

Well, just numerically it can't be 99% as 1, 632, 230 people have now signed that petition. Wait, make that 1, 632, 320. No, 1,632, 387. So 2.5% of the population have already signed this. Now lets leave out those below voting age, and those incapacitated in one way or another.... Sorry, it's now 1,632, 646.

amispartacus · 31/01/2017 09:29

Bless the Daily Express.
Dear Daily Express. If you ask people who think like you if they believe in things you believe in, you get support.

It's called an echo chamber

BORIS for PM???

Peregrina · 31/01/2017 09:37

What gets me is how many of you petitioned against other presidents/prime ministers with appalling human rights records visiting the U.K.,

What get's me Creampastry, is that you appear not to have a clue. I don't know how old you are, but some of us have been protesting about human rights injustices for more than 40 years. Some friends and acquaintances have even gone to prison for their beliefs, for speaking out against injustice. When you can say that of anyone you know, I might just think your opinions are worth the time of day.

ZebraOwl · 31/01/2017 09:38

Tell yourself it's a campaign for a Boris-inspired Pokémon? (Not that he deserves one...) Or to make him Postmaster?

woman12345 · 31/01/2017 09:38

After yesterday's performance? He seemed a bit weepy to me.
They are rattled, no matter what their press tell us.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2017 09:41

The other papers need to get better in writing in BIG headlines the actual truth about the support that Trump has. Our way is too polite, too wordy , too restrained and so the headlines people tend to notice are the bigoted shouty headlines.
They need to learn to get the message out and fast.

Just popping on to say, if you are on Twitter and want do get active, check out my thread here.

Well Trump's going to be even more set against meeting Charles now:

merrymouse · 31/01/2017 09:47

zebra, on reflection I think it's quite possible that Paisley was both trying to be offensive and making a stupid argument - so stupid that Boris had to clarify it and in doing so probably increased the offense. However, apparently the PM has to take support where she can get it these days.

Completely agree about royal family.

The queen and D of E are elderly and have fragile health. Trump doesn't want to see Charles and William and Harry probably don't want to see him.

May does seem to have promised more than she is likely to be able to deliver - and that's before you start thinking about protests, the general public, other politicians, pressure on high profile people not to take part etc. etc.

Chippednailvarnishing · 31/01/2017 09:50

I'm wondering if Liz will come down with a heavy cold again, just as Trump's plane lands. Then as first in line Charlie will be the one to step in.

My no fan of him, but i'm thinking he might just be the person who isn't playing party politics to say what most people are thinking.

GingerIvy · 31/01/2017 09:55

And while the royals may be restrained to some degree, you know there was be protests

GingerIvy · 31/01/2017 09:55

Argh!!! WILL be. Damn autocorrect

hackmum · 31/01/2017 09:56

"99% of Express readers" - what, all three of them?

Junebugjr · 31/01/2017 10:00

I've been following this thread from the start, and seen my own opinions and fears much more articulately expressed by knowledgable posters.
Trump tends to keep his promises, it does what it says on the tin so to speak.
My mind keeps going back to his inauguration speech, where he vowed to wipe ISIS from the face of the earth. My mind is boggling at the amount of carnage he'll cause in the pursuit of this considering his bull in a china shop approach.
I don't think we've seen nothing yet.

ZebraOwl · 31/01/2017 10:00

Which is one of the many reasons he's unfit for his post: he should have simply dodged it. Everyone knows Paisley is a mad sectarian. Him going on a froth is nothing new. It would be more surprising if he hadn't found a way to shoehorn it in, really. Boris should have brushed away past. Feck knows he's happy enough to disregard other people... But when this is what he says about NI, what's he going to say when he goes to Kenya & the Mau Mau get mentioned, for example?!

May is a fool. Hence the rushing in...

Junebugjr · 31/01/2017 10:02

*we ain't seen nothing yet Blush

BigBadgers · 31/01/2017 10:03

Charles has said he would welcome the chance to meet with trump to talk to him about interfaith relationships. I think we should bundle trump in the back of a van as soon as he lands, deposit him in a locked room and force him to listen to a 3 hour lecture and PowerPoint presentation from Prince Charles on climate change and religious freedom before sending him on his way back home again. lingle · 31/01/2017 10:05

Hi Abby,

"Read the local papers in Arizona..."

Yes I agree this is what we should all be doing.

"Arizona citizens want strong borders...not concerned about the jackalope. .it is a dangerous place for everyone."

They want to feel safe? I want to feel safe too. I was brought up to believe that you are safer when every group is safe. Once people feel unsafe their behaviour changes. Danger escalates. That's what we feel is happening now.

"No, borders are locks on the door of a country. Simple analogy."

It IS a simple analogy and so it is very appealing but very few people with lots of experience and expertise seem to agree. I'm not an expert, but it seems that most terrorists are home-grown?
