The insurance company AXA UK, says its travel policy holders will be entitled to claims if they have been hit by Trump’s travel ban

It's certainly unexpected and unfair.
And NOT an "act of God". Grin

squishysquirmy · 30/01/2017 12:29

Ginger: I don't want Americans banned from the UK either! Watching the peaceful demonstrations at the airports, and the number of Americans standing up for the rights of those affected just demonstrates how important it is to not make generalisations about a country.

OnionKnight · 30/01/2017 12:30

Trump is blaming a Delta computer failure for the delays.

acornsandnuts · 30/01/2017 12:30

Maybe we should keep a rolling record of companies which have behaved well in this hideous situation.

AXA

AFAIK, British Airways and Virgin are not charging passengers for deportation flights (in stark contrast to KLM and Qatar airlines, who are hitting passengers for the costs).

deblet · 30/01/2017 12:33

Wow a lot of passionate people. I don't like Trump but don't feel the ban on those countries is a bad thing or his wall. I do take issue with the pipeline and how he has run roughshod over those people living there. I don't think however a petition trying to ban him or protests if he visits show us in a better light than him. Embarrassing ourselves and our Queen is not the way forward. Surely we should behave with dignity and show a better example?

BigBadgers · 30/01/2017 12:33

Riiiiight....A computer outage...Did anyone try turning it off and back on again Hmm

M0stlyHet · 30/01/2017 12:36

Fair enough, Deb, you don't feel the need to protest. That's your right in a democratic country which values free speech. I do feel the need to protest. That's my right in a democratic country which values free speech.

GingerIvy · 30/01/2017 12:38

A computer problem for Delta?? That affected every single airline?? hahahahahhhahahhaa And the only one that knew about it was Trump? (because if something like that affected the airlines, we'd know about it as they'd be telling everyone)

Why don't you feel it's a bad thing?

OnionKnight · 30/01/2017 12:40

Delta should sue him for libel.

BigBadgers · 30/01/2017 12:42

I don't believe standing up for it principles is embarrassing for us or the queen. I think staying quite while a world power slights into authoritarianism would be not just embarrassing, but shameful. If you are happy with that, this is your choice. I couldn't do nothing, however little my small voice may achieve, and look my children in the eye.

squishysquirmy · 30/01/2017 12:42

It's not just what he's doing deblet (which is bad enough). It's the way he is doing it (and ignoring normal democratic procedure), the speed at which he is doing it, and the rhetoric he is using.

I suspect this is an attempt to "other" those Congressmen that are helping at the airports and are speaking out against him. To make them look weak to the GOP.

I don't care about showing myself or ourselves in a 'better light' to Trump. Do you think Trump even cares about whether we are leading by example? Of course not. Trump has shown that he takes no notice of 'example'. If he learned by example he wouldn't do what he does. As if he's going to think, 'oh that British lot, how dignified they are. What a good example, I should learn from that'. Sorry but that's just some fantastical notion of taking the high ground which has no basis in reality.
Fine if you don't think the travel ban or the wall are bad things. That's up to you, but plenty of people think they are terrible.

Perihelion · 30/01/2017 12:45

"Drain the swamp".....so is that dismantle all the Washington bureaucracy, Senate, Congress etc and concentrate the power to a small select few....do away with elections.......with Big Brother having easy access to our opinions via social media.........

I agree this seems to be an immense power and money grab....oh fuck.

I hope while The Donald is busy on Twitter and signing EO's, that Melania is quietly filing for divorce and making plans to leave with Barron.

I have never felt so sorry for anyone as I do for those two.

And why on earth is Trump still tweeting about various media outlets. He's like a fucking petulant child.
