I agree with you, OP. In the beginning, it was fascinating - I watched with incredulity as he lied about the crowds at his inauguration. The "alternative facts" were sinister, in terms of what they represented - a man unwilling to let the truth get in the way of his ego - but his obsession with the number of people who turned up was ultimately ridiculous. It didn't really matter.

Now, it's serious. And I can't believe it's happening so fast.

Above all, I think I'm afraid of how he will react if he is told that he can't do what he wants to do. I don't think he is used to not getting his own way.
