To wish people were more positive about my baby's name? <kind of serious>

DH & I loved the name Luca for a girl throughout my pregnancy. I know it's generally used as a boy's name especially in Italy but her middle name is Rose and I love that it means 'light'.

Anyway, my dear mum very sadly died last summer of Leukaemia and my (usually lovely) Granny (aged 96 and grieving) first said that Luca reminds her of the phrase 'dirty Luca' then a week later she asked if it was too late to change the name beaches it reminds her of Leukaemia.

I was so upset, my baby (3 weeks old) really suits her name and I love that it's a bit different but now I can't stop thinking about the link to Leukaemia :(

Yes I did contact MNHQ to clarify the parts of that post in support/defence of the OP who I saw being picked on. If this is what MN has come too and I get kicked off for this, then so be it, I stand by my post in support of the OP.

You know that isn't all you posted, lonely. Irrational and a long disturbing rant. I don't even know who you are and frankly don't much care. Aagain, ask mumsnet if you need clarification rather than bothering me. Ghastly behaviour, though, and pretending you didn't say anything. How unsettling.

You sound utterly humourless, too, lots of the banter has been quite tongue in cheek and very little aimed at the OP. Have a word with those directing negative comments at the mother and grandmother if you have an axe to grind, but stop boring me with your nonsense.

I think that's actually one off the tamest rants I have ever written.

Litlmissbuttons · 29/01/2017 14:05

It is very unfair for anybody to tell you what to name your child. Your grandmother chose her child's name and you should be allowed to do the same.

reuset · 29/01/2017 14:08

Well you're certainly sounding quite very irrational and scary now. Grin Are you quite alright?

Are, so you didn't just use the word 'fuck' after all. I couldn't recall the context.

lullaby23 · 29/01/2017 14:08

Haven't rtft so sorry if I'm repeating but I think it's a nice girls name and makes me think of Lucca Quinn (kickass female lawyer from The Good Wife)

reuset · 29/01/2017 14:08

Ah not are!

LonelyImSoLonely · 29/01/2017 14:12

I stand by my rant. Also by my other posts reminding people about the OP being a real person. Yes I said everything in my long and irrational post. I feel much better now thanks.

Thank you for telling me about other posters not saying it was from other countries, got to doubt this brain injured brain.

Just Googled and it's female in Croatia and Hungary but pronounced Loot - sah.

LonelyImSoLonely · 29/01/2017 14:12

I'm not borthered by autocorrect fails.

I also stand by my comment a about Pamela being a made up name to start with which became mainstream.

LowestCommonDenominatorWins · 29/01/2017 14:18

This story is in the Sun :(

LonelyImSoLonely · 29/01/2017 14:22

lowest that is terrible.
I was just coming back to say I was namechanging and leaving the thread. Poor OP

reuset · 29/01/2017 14:23

Oh I think I also included in my post how names like Pamela and Imogen were once made up names and are now mainstream, or boys/girls names have swapped genders.

what 'gender' did pamela swap to, nameexpertlonely Grin It's always been female, since 1590 (when it was invented) and had a different pronunciation, slightly, back then. And Imogen is thought to be from Innogen, both always female.

I haven't read this thread, I just saw the title and spotted it in the Sun. :( It's terrible that people come on here to get advice and their stories end up in newspapers with journalists too shit to report on proper news, why don't these journalists go to the US and report on the Muslim ban ffs.

reuset · 29/01/2017 14:29

The majority of users loved it Confused Did we?

What a dreadful, inaccurate, article.

CompanyOfCats · 29/01/2017 14:31

Just RTFT (a little too late), hope you are okay OP.

LonelyImSoLonely · 29/01/2017 14:31

Reusit, please.
I said Pamela was originally a made up name, or boys/girls names swapping genders. Talking about 2 different things with the" comma" and "or". Topic 1, Pamela was originally made up, topic 2 previous posters have talked about boys/girls names being originally used for the other gender. I did not say Pamela was a boys name.

Bambambini · 29/01/2017 14:36

This had all got a bit out of control and quite nasty. Feel sorry for the OP.

Sickofthisnow · 29/01/2017 14:37

I'm not being funny but if granny is 96 it's not worth changing the name of a tiny baby with her whole life ahead of her to suit someone who isn't going to live to see her grow up.

reuset · 29/01/2017 14:39

I quoted what you said, so that's fine.

Looks like you've been deleted a few times, thankfully. Using disablist type comments as insult is quite low. Still here though, despite 'leaving' twice.

LonelyImSoLonely · 29/01/2017 14:39

That sun article is disgusting.
Reused, how can you still comment that about the majority loving the name, when the OP is going to have to go through fresh hell with the sun on top of being a new mum and recently losing her own mum.

BertrandRussell · 29/01/2017 14:40

"I'm not being funny but if granny is 96 it's not worth changing the name of a tiny baby with her whole life ahead of her to suit someone who isn't going to live to see her grow up."

No. You're not being funny. Not remotely.
