to be really glad my DH is away for two nights?

I feel terrible saying this but my DH was away last night and he's away tonight and I'm really happy to be rid of him for a bit.

He's been ill with a cold for the last week or so and he's ridiculously dramatic about the whole thing. He'll start a sentence and then end it coughing and spluttering in a really OTT way. The other day he said he had fluid on his lungs. He hasn't, he's got a dry cough and when he coughs he produces some spit in his mouth. That's not fluid on the lungs.

Anyway, he's away so the house is quiet. There isn't his piles of crap everywhere. Last night I had a ready meal curry and tonight I'm ordering myself a kebab. If he was here he'd cook something delicious but healthy and I want to slob out with shit food.

I know I ABU because he's away with work and that's shit. Plus, he's a little bit ill. But I'm loving the peace!

Haha I don't blame you! Every time my DH gets ones of his 'chests' I could quite happily murder him! The incessant coughing, the spitting into tissues and leaving them laid about, the clasping his chest like he's about to have a coronary it's relentless. Enjoy your peace and quiet and junk food!

I know exactly what you mean it's nice to have the house (and fridge) to myself until it gets too quiet and I want him back again

You're not being unreasonable. You didn't kick him out of the house.

He's working.

Meh enjoy the peace dh goes away fishing a few times a year it is bliss I cant stand it when he has a cold he he starts off by saying i feel a bit phleghmy then it turns to bloody consumption Grin drives me nuts

We all need space sometimes...DH went to a bike rally last weekend and I had a lovely day & night to myself. Had loads of picky bits (pate / crackers / cheese etc.) for dinner, and starfished in the bed lol.

He froze his ass off in a tent but that was his choice Grin

Haha! So glad you don't think I'm being unreasonable. He's somehow convinced himself that I get really lonely when he's not here and miss him terribly. I don't have the heart to tell him I love him going away. I just say something in the middle like "I'll be fine, got lots to do anyway" which he takes as me trying to put a brave face on my lonliness.

CupOfTea Yep, I could happily murder as well. He's been concerned about breaking a rib over the last week or so because he's been coughing so much. Errrrm, no.

I remember a woman at work said her dh was taking their Ds to an outward bound place for a week you could feel the envy in the air 1 woman muttered a week i cant piss in peace and she gets a week Grin

My husband is like this. He sneezes so over the top loudly I literally jump out my skin. He then makes extended sneezing noises to drag it out. Like making the choo choo choo noise three times after . Friggen drives me nuts it really does. He says he can't control it, that it's impossible to sneeze quietly, yet sees and hears me do it. Of course you can sneeze quietly, you don't need to throw your whole friggen body into it.

Rant over. 😂

YANBU. My DH is also awful when he's ill. And nothing wrong with having time apart from each other.

Oh my god, yes, the completely ridiculous sneezes. DH will do a massive sneeze, then sort of pause dramatically for a second, then lift his head up as if it's got a tonne weight on it, do a bleary eyed blink and do a pathetic "Uh uh" noise. Like he's the first person that's ever sneezed in the world.

I love my husband dearly. He is lovely to live with. Great company. Pulls his weight. Lovely. And I LOVE when he goes away for a couple of days. I love getting into bed with a bar of chocolate or a packet of crisps and watching crap tv with the dog. Yes I could do that with him there too but it just isn't the same.

He travelled a lot a few years ago - couple of days every couple of weeks - and all my friends were envious :)

Die - my husband also says 'uhoh' after every sneeze Hmm he also convinces himself he needs anti-biotics. He'd never go to the doctors even if he did need them, he just likes people to know it's not just a cold.

Lol. Oh I am so glad I've read this. I thought it was just my DP who was pathetic when ill. He's been ill for the last 2 months with various coughs and colds and has driven me mad. I've called him a big baby and a drama llama cos he's so melodramatic. But to be fair, he does admit he is a baby when he's ill. Poor little creature.

Tbf when dh is really ill he never moans like he does when he has a cold. we allhad a viral thing before christmas really floored us not a peep from him he sneezes once and the end is nigh.

Peach See, while my DH is ridiculously dramatic about it all he'd never go to the doctors about it or even consider medication.

I convinced him to get some cough medicine because he gave a talk last week and was a bit croaky beforehand so I convinced him he needed something to soothe it a little.

I think he doesn't take medication in case it actually did cure him or relieve his symptoms and his claims to sympathy would disappear Grin

I'm not kidding, the first time I saw exH sneeze after we separated removed any lingering doubts I might have had. The noise, the dramatics, the forced extra sneeze (I can tell you're making it happen)!

My dh works 2 nights a week, and every 6th weekend. I bloody love it!

Dh is away too. Best but is my wonderful cleaner was in yesterday so not only did I to have the bed to myself, it was perfectly made. Bliss.

My dp went on a week long motorbike trip recently. It was joy, the flat stayed tidy, I slobbed on the sofa with ice cream. At one point actually thought 'oh no he's back tomorrow' Grin

He also does ludicrous sneezes. He was waiting outside a shop I was in once and sneezed so loud the woman on the till jumped and did a little scream
