To think there's a nice way to disagree with people on here?

I've posted a few AIBUs under another name. Sometimes it turns out I am being unreasonable. Which is good to know, after all it's why I asked the question.

Some people manage to communicate this very constructively, encouraging you to see it from the other person's perspective, sharing personal experience etc.

However some replies basically seem to take joy in tearing you down, being consescending/dismissive, not really adding anything to the discussion other than how ridiculous they think you are.

AIBU to think that if you disagree with someone, there's always still a respectful way to communicate that?

Purple you're way too classy for bitch plopping.

Manumission · 26/01/2017 12:06

Ah! Smile

I doubt you'd do any kind of plopping purple.

It seemed to be addressed to someone who had complained about vulgarityz

bluelightoversunset · 26/01/2017 12:08

Definately think it's possible to tell it like it is without being rude, there is a fine line though and the without intonation things can be miscommunicated

SmileEachDay · 26/01/2017 12:08

*from Waitrose, natch

PurpleDaisies · 26/01/2017 12:08

Thank you fizz. That's made my day. Smile

FizzBombBathTime · 26/01/2017 12:10

I couldn't agree more op I have had many enlightening opposing thoughts on my AIBU I have one right now in fact which has really helped me open up my thoughts that I couldn't have done on my own...thrown up lots of food for thought. I think everyone bar one - managed to give opposing views in a pleasant non confrontational way. Which has meant I the op dont get defensive and its been really helpful, which is supposed to be the whole point Grin

FizzBombBathTime · 26/01/2017 12:11

smile great minds Wink

Manumission · 26/01/2017 12:12

What I don't agree with is when people query why a question has been asked and get accused of doing it for a reaction. Or if a topic has been discussed before they'll simply write not this again.

As with everything no one forces you to read the OP, just as some tiny goblin doesn't take over your fingers to reply. So if you're that bored, just don't read and reply, I know it's a difficult concept, but it's so easy, scroll past.

Cara I never said you were offended specifically. I would respectfully disagree with you about being 'better' than anyone."

I didn't say better than anyone. I DID say better than anyone here who has to resort to an oh-so-amusing vulgar username or tonthe copious use of the c word. Ugh

Oh it's just the internet. You are not real people. It's just a big game for people to toy with each other. The truth is that honestly none of you matter to me in the slightest. And nor should we.
You mix serious life issues with people who don't give a shit and this is what happens! YABU"
That is a refreshing perspective.

FizzBombBathTime · 26/01/2017 12:52

What cunt? You're offended by the word cunt? Oh dear, because there are a lot of cunts around here...
I wonder what the origins of the word cunt are? Funny word isn't it, cunt.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/01/2017 12:53

Wow is it a couple of days since we had this already?

hackmum · 26/01/2017 12:54

There are lots of people on here who are really horrible. Heaven knows why, but I suppose we all have to get our kicks from somewhere.

Maybe it's just me, but I would never come on here and ask whether I was being unreasonable about someone. Why would I trust the judgement of a bunch of strangers on the internet over my own judgement? Quite often in AIBU you'll have a 50-50 divide in the answers anyway.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/01/2017 12:54

And why namechange to post this? Cara is right.
