To hope my daughter has stopped growing?

Do you think she's stopped growing yet?

She is 14yo and 5'4" - exactly the same height as me.
She weighs about 7 stone and I am about 9 stone.
Her dad is 5'7".
She had a growth spurt about a year ago.
She is taller than pretty much all of her female relatives (except her aunt (OH's sis) who is about 5'6")

I don't want her to be taller than me! Grin

I'm 5'1 and I love it! I outstripped my 4'11 mum when I was 9.

MrsJayy · 25/01/2017 17:39

Ha oh how i scoffed at 5ft4 being a short arse Grin

AdoraBell · 25/01/2017 17:43

One of mine has grown about 6/7 inches since starting her periods.

Both of them are delighted -the horrors 😆- that I am now the shortest member of the family.

PickledCauliflower · 25/01/2017 17:44

5ft 7 is hardly tall, but I find it quite difficult to get trousers long enough - and then if I go for longer length, they need talking up a bit.
I think I have long limbs and a shortish torso - long sleeves are never long enough. I've only just realised what an odd shape I must be.
Hope nobody has noticed..

harderandharder2breathe · 25/01/2017 17:46

Yabu

5'4" isn't even tall!

DaisyQueen · 25/01/2017 17:48

I'm 5ft11 and outgrew my mum at around 13 and she's 5ft6/7 my youngest sister is 14 and is already 5ft8 and shows no sign of stopping yet. I just hope she doesn't outgrow me because I know how hard it is finding clothes that fit Grin

Gildedcage · 25/01/2017 17:49

I do always think height can be a bit of a confidence trick though. Cos if you're tall you have nowhere to hide, there's nothing like bad posture in a tall woman to draw the attention. I did always envy my tiny sister being able to just blend in sometimes. But ultimately none of us get a choice we have to love what we have

Sorry don't know why it keeps double posting Confused

MyWhatICallNameChange · 25/01/2017 17:52

I'd love to be 5ft 4. I started my periods when I was 10 and definitely didn't grow much as a teenager, I'm 5ft 1. All my boys except my youngest have overtaken me (not hard really!) I did tell them to stop growing because they're my babies, but they're very disobedient and are still going up.

No more food for them! Well, the way they always act half starved you'd think I never fed them anyway. Grin

WiMoChi · 25/01/2017 17:58

I'm 6'1' it's cool. My mum and dad worried and took me to all sorts of specialists. It was just an annoying boring waste of time.

Now I have long legs, I've excelled at certain sports etc. Being tall is great x

AdoraBell · 25/01/2017 18:00

Pickled you are not an odd shape. You're perfect.

It's bloody designers/manufacturers making odd shaped clothes that's the problem.

BarbedBloom · 25/01/2017 18:05

I'm 6ft 2 and I think I was taller than my mum at about 13/14 (she is 5'11). I love being tall and lots of places have tall ranges now. My DP is 6ft so goodness knows how tall our kids will be if they tend to outgrow their parents.

minipie · 25/01/2017 18:06

Er yes YABU

I thought you were going to say your DD was already 6' or something

I'm 5'3" and I'd love my DDs to be taller than me (one of them will be, one of them looks likely to be a titch like me)

I don't have a problem with being short but it would be nice to have longer legs and for trousers to fit!

Flambola · 25/01/2017 18:12

I have a feeling my DD will be considerably taller than me. She's already the size of some 2/3 year olds at 15 months and both sides of the family are well above average (6'8 the tallest!).

I hope she grows taller than me, I'd love to be 6ft!

Dahlietta · 25/01/2017 18:18

I'm always glad that I am fairly short whenever I am on public transport.

Unescorted · 25/01/2017 18:26

If I had stopped growing when I got to 14yo I would have been about 5'2. I am 5'7.5. I didn't stop growing until I was 20 - my Dad thought he was shrinking. My DD is almost as tall as me at 14. I am looking forwad to her being taller than me.

chocdonutyy · 25/01/2017 18:33

I hope dd hasn't quite stopped growing, she too is 14 but only about 4'11 started her periods 2 years ago or maybe longer.
I'm only 5'3 max so I knew shed be shorter but her dad's 5'10 so more room for growth hopefully

Hygellig · 25/01/2017 19:09

I never managed to get to be as tall as my mum - and she's only 5'4. (I'm 5'1). Can't remember what age I stopped growing.

Astoria7974 · 25/01/2017 19:14

You're both quite short tbh. You're worrying over nothing.

CanaryFish · 25/01/2017 19:32

My mother is 5ft 2.
My older sister stopped at 5ft 2 also.
When i was 11 I was 5ft 3! They were actually fuming with me!!!

It was ridiculous. My sister I could put down to teenage hormones and sibling rivalry but my mother?!
"I feel like a Terrier who gave birth to a Labrador "
Sorry about my DNA mam!! What I was I supposed to do . Sigh :(
I finished at 5 ft 8

I've been told by my health nurse my daughter will probably end up about 5 ft 10.
That's fine with me although I do have a tiny worry about her looking older than she is as a teen.

MammyNeedsASpaDay · 25/01/2017 19:32

That isn't tall. My daughter is past my waist height and is almost 6. I am only 5ft 2.5. My husband is 6ft 3.

She is clearly going to be taller than me, probably when she is 9/10. I don't mind x

yaela123 · 25/01/2017 20:33

I have absolutely no problem with her being tall. (I often used to wish I was taller but I'm happy with my height now)

I just don't want her to stop being my baby, which yes, I know isn't going to happen if she overtakes me.

I'm just having a funny nostalgic day today. I burst into tears earlier looking at some baby photos. It's worse than when I was pregnant!

OP posts:
Peanutbutterrules · 25/01/2017 20:34

I'm praying DD gets past me. Hubby is crazy tall 6ft 5, I'm
crazy short 5ft 2. DD now my height at 12 and I'll be so pleased if she makes predicted height of 5 ft 6. Hopefully all the talk of stopping growing after periods is ... just talk. Sigh.

My Mum was 5ft 9 so how I ended up so short God only knows....

DMCWelshCakes · 25/01/2017 20:40

DiddyDragon comes up to my chin already and she's only 8. I'm 5 foot 3.

It's going to be weird when she's taller than me. (Which at the rate will be sometime next week.)
