to still be cross about the outcome of the EU referendum?

I'm still so angry and can't forgive those who voted to leave. After the result there was much talk of how the two sides must put aside their differences but I don't feel there has been any attempt to try to appease the 48.1% of people who voted to stay. I also want to rip the head off any one who says it's the will of the people. They should be legally obligated to say it's the will of 51.9 % of the people who voted. If the vote had gone the other way you can bet that UKIP would still be making a huge fuss about it but remainers are expected to "just get over it"!

Er you may not like someone Pluto but it doesn't mean what they are saying isn't right. Confused

GraceGrape · 25/01/2017 07:53

It was posted upthread, but if you are still angry then join me on the protest march in London on 25th March.

We can whinge as much as we like on Mumsnet, but action is needed. TM said last week that 65 million Brits are now on board with the Brexit plan. The government needs to be shown that this is not the case. At the moment they seem to fear that Kippers will take to the streets if we don't go for a hard Brexit, but remainers will just quietly grumble into their tea.

We may not be able to overturn the result, but we can at least campaign for the least damaging Brexit.

TheNaze73 · 25/01/2017 07:53

I'm sure people had their reasons to leave.... fuck knows what they were

I campaigned on the doorsteps for remain however, I'm beginning to let it go. Most of L & SE voted remain & I'm proud of that

WrongTrouser · 25/01/2017 07:54

The only saving grace is most of the morons who voted out are either unemployed or about to become so as the economy crashes and we have a huge amount to pay for this cluster fuck

Pathetic and factually wrong.

AristotlesTrousers · 25/01/2017 08:04

YANBU OP! I am still cross about it all too. We should never have had a say in it to start with, and I don't believe it was ever really supposed to happen, but it all massively backfired on the govt and now we all have to reap what we sow.

Keep thinking that there has to be a magical loophole out of Brexit that is democratic (not that we live in a true democracy anyway though)!

Fucking mess, it all is.

WrongTrouser · 25/01/2017 08:06

Not everyone who voted Leave voted for racist reasons

They/you can bleat that all you like but as an EU citizen here for 20+ years, raising British kids, employing Brits in my business: you voted for racism, plain and simple. It may be uncomfortable to hear but it's the truth. Own it and you'll look less pathetic

Ooh, really convincing. With arguments like that I'm beginning to wonder if I voted the wrong way. Gosh, some one on the internet who doesn't know me says I'm racist (nice bit of bigoted stereotyping there). Blimey, that's convinced me. I will now go and hang my head in shame, say three Hail Mary's and pray that the OP and all those higher beings on this thread who hold my soul in their hands, grant me forgiveness for my sins, amen.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 25/01/2017 08:18

The only saving grace is most of the morons who voted out are either unemployed or about to become so as the economy crashes and we have a huge amount to pay for this cluster fuck.

That kind of statement shows that there are some pretty nasty people that voted remain.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 25/01/2017 08:19

That's the real traversty isn't it, wrong?
Not that millions no longer feel safe in their own country. Not the decimation of higher education, social care and the financial services, n Ireland agreement, no the terrible thing is that some random stranger, on the internet, said you voted for a racist agenda.

That is the real most important outrage. How dare they!

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 25/01/2017 08:23

no the terrible thing is that some random stranger, on the internet, said you voted for a racist agenda.

It is wrong to name call or label.

Playing 'whataboutery' to cover that up is also wrong.

Oh and I voted remain, however this superiority that is coming through from some remain posters is quite distasteful.

Please don't tell me for example that all remain voters knew what they were voting for, for example, because they didn't.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 25/01/2017 08:26

Of course there are nasty remain voters Grin

Of course some remain voters had no idea what they were doing.

How's that the point? The point is brexit IS going to be disastrous for us. And yes, people naturally feel anxious and angry about it.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 25/01/2017 08:29

The point is brexit IS going to be disastrous for us. And yes, people naturally feel anxious and angry about it.

You can feel anxious and angry without calling people who made a democratic choice that is different from yours, morons, racist, stupid etc.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/01/2017 08:34

I always wonder why people on MN think it's okay to throw the insults around at people who don't agree with them politically. I don't see it in RL despite knowing people who are right and left leaning. It's fine not to like the result but slagging off all of those who disagree (racist, moron etc) is ridiculous.

It takes any credibility away from any argument you have and makes you sound as stupid and hate filled as you claim the other side to be.

I said upthread I was a Remain voter but I'm actually ashamed to admitting it on here. Either accept the result and calm the fuck down or try to do something about it.

neonrainbow · 25/01/2017 08:38

I agree livia. Over half the people who voted aren't all stupid and racist.

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 25/01/2017 08:47

Not Sam,

If you are annoyed with the result you can direct your anger at the rest of your remoaners. Because in short you didn't do the work to persaude people to vote.

People who wanted this country to govern itself put a lot of effort into the campaign. Died in the wool Labour supporters stood next to Tory toffs to agree on this one matter. We spent hours and hours delivering leaflets. We redelivered leaflets as the campaign developed.

I never saw anything from your remoan campaign other than the Government pamphlet... which was posted..

fakenamefornow · 25/01/2017 08:51

As I understand it in the EU we could only trade within ourselves.

Actually you're not the first person I've heard say that and it absolutely astounds me anyone could think that. You only have to go into any shop to see that this isn't true. Don't even go to a shop, just have a look around your house, you have stuff from all over the world.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 25/01/2017 08:53

There's dozens of posts here, talking about how they are affected by brexit.

But let's ignore those because two posters(?) said it was a racist vote by morons.

some people are losing their jobs and homes. Some people have experienced racism for the first time. Most of us know the country is going to suffer.

But let's pretend that leave voters on mumsnet are the victims here because someone on the internet said a horrible thing to them.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/01/2017 08:54

X post with Piglet

Bette85 · 25/01/2017 08:55

YANBU - I hate the way history has been re-written to say this is "the will of the British People" e.g. The PM has made comments along the lines that there was a clear, overwhelming vote for the UK to leave the EU - writing out of history everyone who disagrees with it - Then further extrapolation that this is a clear vote that "the British People" are against immigration and want a hard Brexit. (I do believe most leavers are anti-immigration but I've seen enough leavers who say they aren't and with such a small margin in the vote, you cannot make this conclusion).

birdybirdywoofwoof · 25/01/2017 08:57

As I understand it in the eu we could only trade with ourselves

Awesome.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 25/01/2017 08:58

But let's pretend that leave voters on mumsnet are the victims here because someone on the internet said a horrible thing to them

No one said anyone is 'victims'.

It isn't ok to say horrible things to people. Full stop.

HTH.

Bohemond · 25/01/2017 08:58

I'd like to ask how much effort those who are cross actually put into the process of campaigning to remain. I would wager pretty much none in most cases.
This is the outcome of complacency.

PoisonousSmurf · 25/01/2017 08:58

Brexit has shown the true colours of the liberals. They are petulant children who don't like it when they don't get their way. The same in America.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/01/2017 08:58

This thread is full of insults. I understand the anger when it affects you but jumping up and down and namecalling is not going to help anyone.

Just because some people on the Leave side have behaved badly, you assume that they are all the scum of the earth? Okay then....

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/01/2017 08:59

And those who are calling people names, that makes you morally superior to those calling names on the Leave side how exactly?

birdybirdywoofwoof · 25/01/2017 09:03

Well please note, I didn't say it, but ive seen plenty of racist and stupid things said here and in rl.

in the eu we could only trade with ourselves dearie me.
