To think putting on pyjamas after swimming class at 5pm is a bit weird?

My DD has a swim lesson 4:15 to 4:45 and other children change into their pjs after their class. Is this the new thing? Never seen it before. Is this a little early to be in pjs?

I honestly think that if a person has time to judge other parents for this than they have too much time on there hands and need to get a life.

mammamic · 23/01/2017 03:01

Yes. YABCU.

Why does it affect you enough to start a thread about it?

How can there be an early (ergo right /wrong) time for other people's time?

These threads are baffling.

Perola · 23/01/2017 08:08

How old are the kids? I've seen this many times with young children. I'm just not organised so mine end up putting school uniform back on.

myfavouritecolourispurple · 23/01/2017 08:19

People who insist in lolling about in their sleepwear in public, are obviously confined to certain areas

It happens in my area too which is a very naice affluent town in Hampshire.

Notso · 23/01/2017 08:45

Why is it taking the piss to have a shower?!
I was saying people at my local pool having a full on shower are taking the piss. There's 7 communal showers and 4 cubicles. At a time when there are three lots of swimming lessons plus public swimming, hogging the shower scrubbing themselves of chlorine with body puffs washing hair several times leaving a queue of people freezing is taking the piss IMO.

DillyDayDream8 · 23/01/2017 08:52

nosheep yes putting dirty underwear back on after a shower is pretty minging.
Adults in pj's in the supermarket - wrong.
Kids - not wrong.

Notso · 23/01/2017 09:09

I honestly think that if a person has time to judge other parents for this than they have too much time on there hands...
I wouldn't have given it a second thought if it wasn't for all the time spent freezing my tits off with shivering children waiting for people to fanny about having a scrub down and lather rinse repeat condition just so they can save themselves the horror of putting their knickers back on.

NormaSmuff · 23/01/2017 09:11

they dont have proper showers though, just a run through, if they are lucky, with their cossies still on. only a quick hair wash, if they are lucky and are prepared to wait.
as for the judging, it is simply a MN discussion,

FarAwayHills · 23/01/2017 09:15

At this time of year when it's so dark and cold why not? Why get into a completely new set of clothes for such a short time before having to change again for bed. I love nothing more than putting my pjs on when I'm home and in for the evening.

cherrycrumblecustard · 23/01/2017 09:17

We have loads of cubicles at ours Notso, fair enough if your waiting. I wouldn't put children in pyjamas when they still needed. A bath or shower.

everythingis · 23/01/2017 09:20

Onesies - sensible. Pyjamas is just weird. Sorry

And the difference is? What makes one sensible and one weird? (Hint: its nothing. You're just plucking this out of your ass)

user1484317265 · 23/01/2017 10:03

Yes, the ones with sensible parents who are also secure enough in themselves not to be swayed by judgy idiots.

Nosheep · 23/01/2017 10:37

@DillyDayDream8
Obviously the children you are talking about are having accidents in their underwear because my children's are not so dirty that they can't put them on after a swim, also I wouldn't show my children up by making them go shopping in sleepwear, they are 6 and 9. Babies in a pram maybe but if they are old enough to know better it's a NO.
I think it's more dirty going round a supermarket in PJs than wearing the same underwear after a swim.

Didiplanthis · 23/01/2017 10:44

Onsies are not the same as pyjamas ! My kids never wear onesies to bed. They tend to be comfy loungewear. Easy to chuck on/off for swimming. I wouldn't do pj's either but fleecy onesie in winter keeps them warm on the way home and requires few layers when I am getting 3 small kids changed on my own.

cherrycrumblecustard · 23/01/2017 10:45

I really don't get the onesie thing, isn't it a complete pain/cold when you need the loo?!

NormaSmuff · 23/01/2017 10:53

Also, What a lot to have to carry to swimming pool,
not only do you need costumes, towels, hair brushes, shampoos, even conditioner, you also need to carry a whole change of clothes, and then make sure they dont drop on the wet floor

NormaSmuff · 23/01/2017 10:55

~whole change of clothes
ie. pyjamas, dressing gown & slippers
and then carry the worn clothes too!
bizarre

Daisypopslop · 23/01/2017 10:55

My children have a 4pm swimming lesson. I shower them wash hair and put on pajamas post swimming. They are clean and snuggly post swim we go straight home in the car. Personally I find it saves time and they can then just chill before bed, why after a shower would I put them back in school clothes when they are just going to be getting ready for bed anyway in a couple of hours? Most of the other children are doing the same unless they are putting on cubs , rainbows etc gear for anouther evening activity. It works very well in this house!

cherrycrumblecustard · 23/01/2017 10:56

Norma, people do use bags lol

NormaSmuff · 23/01/2017 11:00

yOU MUST be like Mules

Daisypopslop · 23/01/2017 11:04

Btw myself and all the other parents putting our children in pajamas post swimming lessons are all in a very affluent nice town in Hampshire. (Apparently the best place in U.K. to live) We have basic common sense and a desire to save ourself time and stress later in the evening. Everyone does what works for them best in managing children the fact the children have swimming lessons says more than the parents (i.e. Me) being a bit slobby by walking our children out the leisure centre into a car in pajamas.

NormaSmuff · 23/01/2017 11:22

oh, even the Naice mothers are doing it you say,
i like the idea even less now

everythingis · 23/01/2017 11:58

Most onesies have a warning on the label about not sleeping in them.

I'm not sure I can pluck much out of a donkey.

Meanwhile I think the parents at gymnastics who can't be arsed to get their kids changed at all and walk them out in leotards and school shoes are just lazy and negligent.

NerrSnerr · 23/01/2017 12:04

Everything you seriously think parents are neglecting their children by not getting them changed after gymnastics? What harm is it doing taking them home to shower/ bath there?

Hope you've reported them to social services for their negligent behaviour!
