All i want are tubes of orange smarties. They are the only ones with flavour. Shall I write to them and ask them to make only tubes of orange smarties?
Will anyone join me in this quest?

You ask that as though you're going to be met with blank stares.

CelticPromise · 22/01/2017 18:51

I do boycott L'Oréal yes. And Purina, San Pellegrino, Rachel's Organic... There are lists online of all the companies in the group, it's hard to keep them all in mind but I try.

Andrewofgg · 22/01/2017 19:36

CelticPromise You say She should be mindful of her obligation to practice in an evidence based way and say there is effectively no difference between formula brands, according to the WHO code she is not permitted to recommend one, and for unbiased info see the First Steps Nutrition Trust website.

Thanks; that is interesting; the child I am thinking of is 26/27 years old now so the bit about the website would not have arisen. If I had been that widowed father of a newborn I think I would have asked "Which brand do you use here when you have to use one?" - which would have got me a clear answer which was not strictly a recommendation.

Bitofacow We all try to give expression to our sense of humanity in different ways; mine don't entirely coincide with yours. As a Fifites child of leftie-liberal parents I grew up with the boycott of South African products and just went on with it in adult life out of habit, so I suppose we are none of us quite consistent; because if I had been asked whether I thought it was making a difference I think I would have answered No.

After the Colonels' Coup in Greece in 1967 the bien-pensants were divided between the purists who said you should not take a holiday there and the practicals who said that that would just put people there out of jobs. I fear the same may have been true of Outspan.

HeCantBeSerious · 22/01/2017 20:00

Those of you who boycott Nestle, do you also boycott L'oreal?

Absolutely. And Body Shop, Lancôme, Garnier, Rachel's, Buxton, Vittel, anything that starts with Nes....., carnation, rowntree, Maggi, Matrix, Redken, Maybelline, ski, munch bunch........

Those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Fishface77 · 22/01/2017 20:37

Oh god!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta

And yes I know you were probably being sarcastic but comments like that are why some people don't get taken seriously grin

If we have no sense of humour we are humorless lefties if we indulge in a little hyperbole we will not get taken seriously. On balance I like to amuse myself by 'over reacting'.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 22/01/2017 20:59

Who said anything about humourless lefties?

It was just I have seen similar written on MN before by people and it's pathetic.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 22/01/2017 21:03

You aren't but those who use that kind of smugness are Grin

rainbowsockstoday · 27/03/2017 11:28

I agree with a lot of other posts. Nestle are disgusting immoral murderers hiding behind corporation.

Support nestle... support infant deaths and poverty

Willow2017 · 27/03/2017 13:01

Yes people do boycott Nestle and all their subsiduary companies. I dont touch any of the companies mentioned by Hecnatbeserious either.

I havent touched Nestle products for 25 years.
Not only over the baby milk scandal but the whaling they support in the name of 'science' (no its not), and other practices. They are a disgrace and think they are above the law never mind have no morals.

Drinking clean water isnt a 'right' but you can pay to drink our water instead?

Jog on.

What anyone else decides to do is thier business. But often people do not realise how companies operate, it can be useful to learn about things you didnt realise were happening to enable you to make an informed choice. The decision of what to do with that info is yours to make. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything.
