To think you would break up with a pedophile?

Found out recently that someone I know has been convicted for downloading child pornography. Quick Facebook search showed him still online, despite the conviction being in August. It also showed that he was still dating his current gf.
Seems that she has stayed with him through out the revelations and conviction. Even going as far to post loved up pictures with him in the pub over Christmas and the new year.
I am just horrified by the whole thing.

1. Because I have actually spent time with this monster and
2. Because her reaction feels so off to me.

So Aibu? Would you maintain a relationship with a man who was creating a collection of child porn during your relationship?

Rixera - it's just goes to show how manipulative and clever child abusers can be, your situation was horrific and no child should have to go through what you did, it's not acceptable and totally not your fault.

A child has no choice and nothing to compare his/her experiences to. These beasts pray on the innocence of a child and get off on manipulation, making them believe these activities are normal and they enjoy them.

It's cruel and it's wrong, I often hear stories of these people being outed and it's always people you think.. no not him/her, they seemed so nice. It's because they are demonic individuals that pray on the vulnerability of youth and innocence.

They're the persona of evil and are inhuman.

LassWiTheDelicateAir - the persons name wasn't included in the op just the original news article that was in the public domain. I think it did add to this thread imho because it gave a detailed reporting on this particular case and as we all know. Every case is different and every situation is not the same, so it set the foundations to understand this particular thread. 👍
