What's Thundersnow?

ItsNachoCheese · 11/01/2017 22:52

Yellow Snow yes im 24 and i just laughed out loud at yellow snow being mentioned 😂😂

pregnantat50 · 11/01/2017 22:57

Im shivering at the thought...I love the look of it, but only if im snuggled and warm inside

viques · 11/01/2017 23:01

Humph. Last time we had decent snow the blumming people opposite woke their kids up at 3 o'clock in the morning and turfed them out in the street to play with it and they TRASHED the entire streets ration of crisp virgin snow. Trashed it totally, it was white and crisp and even and lovely they turned it into a snow midden. Bastards. I think I might sneak over and superglue their door shut just in case.

garlicandsapphire · 11/01/2017 23:05

I've never heard of it before. I guess I'd like to see it but I'm only generally a fan of the snow for about 2 hours then I just get fed up with the slush.

I used to like tobboganning with the kids though. and watching people in cars get stuck on my road....

PS. "I always think that there's no reason to go out if you're not going to work."

I dont get that at all - I go stir crazy if i cant go out every day - I need fresh air...

edwinbear · 11/01/2017 23:11

I was the one in the office who always volunteered to get in early/at all/stay late when there was snow, as I had the shortest commute and could walk it at a push if need be. This meant everyone else could stay at home making snowmen and posting the pics on Facebook.

Given they've just made me redundant, I'm praying for thunderstorms of biblical proportions, so they can have that uncomfortable conversation when they realise some other mug is going to have to step up Grin

edwinbear · 11/01/2017 23:13

Thundersnow dammit......

aintnothinbutagstring · 11/01/2017 23:18

Has anyone mentioned Jim Cantore and his thundersnow excitement on the weather channel. Youtube it, hilarious.

pieceofpurplesky · 11/01/2017 23:21

It's really windy here. No sign of thunder snow. It did thunder last night though. It made the dog bark at 3 in the morning

Ankleswingers · 11/01/2017 23:23

Hope it's epic snowfall and we're snowed in here.

Won't happen though

Evilstepmum01 · 11/01/2017 23:40

SNOW!! ITS SNOWING!! And its lying! whoopee!! DH and I just stood outside in it like kids!

AIBU to wake up DS early to go play in it?

p.s there nae thunder!

zebratrainedteens · 11/01/2017 23:43

Where are you roughly evil getting over excited now

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 12/01/2017 00:04

Ah yes when the schools are cancelled and those of us who don't have kids have the joy to covering for all the parents - always a bonus

Evilstepmum01 · 12/01/2017 00:17

zebra north Scotland! We're on the coast, so I imagine inland will be bad! Possible snow day! YAY!!

Ilovetorrentialrain · 12/01/2017 00:19

edwinbear now I'm doubly hoping for thunder or any kind of snow.

Rrross1ges · 12/01/2017 00:24

If we get all of the snow and schools are closed that would be nice

Oh yes please. Get the fire lit, eat scones, wear pj's all day.

TrustySnail · 12/01/2017 00:26

LiviaDrusillaAugusta I'm with you - snow is just a nuisance in the workplace, for all sorts of reasons. When people have to take time off (for any snow-related reason) the work doesn't just go away!

Maudlinmaud · 12/01/2017 00:28

Just let the cat out and can confirm no snow. Fecking accu weather said 12.05 am

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 12/01/2017 00:48

Very excited for you, Evil (and v.envious). Since snow is one of my favourite things and thunder one of the least favourite the concept of thundersnow is making me go all unnecessary.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 12/01/2017 01:01

I would like snow (and we are forecast it), but I have appointments all day tomorrow and if I fall, it's pretty much a given that I'll dislocate something and I don't want to spend tomorrow evening in A&E so no, thundersnow can stay away until Friday Wink

BeALert · 12/01/2017 01:42

We had thundersnow here (in New England) a couple of weeks ago.

Then we lost power...

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 12/01/2017 02:07

-40c here with the windchill today and 60kph winds. Delightful!

LoupGarou · 12/01/2017 02:27

Gah bloody snow. The most annoying thing about where we used to live was the fecking snow ploughs, every time I cleared the drive the rat bastard driver would swan past and block it with a wall of snow again. Not accounting for the fact that they wrote off two of our cars in one winter, both of which were in our driveway well away from the road, both of which because the driver had taken drugs at work. Angry. Still gives me the rage. Angry

We live in the arctic, so anything above -10 feels tropical after living here for a while! Joking aside I do adore snow and the cold, even living in as remote a location as we do.

likepeasandcarrots · 12/01/2017 03:05

I've just woke up at 3am and not a speck of white, it's just pissing down Angry
I was desperate for a good snow day!

MissVictoria · 12/01/2017 03:25

As much as i would love how pretty it looks and sounds, i live in a house with no central heating/hot water and a broken gas fire. It's permanently freezing and the electric heater costs a fortune to run. My dad has a major phobia of high winds so he'll be a nervous wreck too. Add that i'm a massive germaphobe and couldn't emotionally handle falling over and my hands/arms/bum etc basically anything other than my feet touching the dirty floor, i'd have an actual panic attack if i slipped.
Pretty sights and sounds don't outweigh the scared half to death dad, freezing house and being made housebound til it clears. Plus i worry for the elderly or otherwise disabled whose lives get turned upside down and get trapped in their homes or risk serious injury going out.
