to get upset at inappropriate thread titles

I've obviously made a huge error of judgement commenting on a thread full of hugely pregnant women and I apologise to them for that (pleading temporary insanity of disgusting icky cold)

however

I do hate seeing thread titles popping up all the time in active conversations (because they're ongoinng chats rather than jokes that fade away) that have sexual innuendo in the title .. just seems so uneccessarily childishly assinine

eg an ante natal thread entitled 'minty sperm or original' .. ach!

BBS: are you one of those people who got enraged in supermarkets when they labelled a till '5 items or less'?

Apologies for my inaccurate terminology.

Rhubarb · 22/02/2007 14:59

And I don't like that "In the immortal words of..." either. Why do you have to try to do a funny thread title? It's not funny it's cringey!

hippmummy · 22/02/2007 14:59

Hi Mrs GV

I'm assuming from your OP your objection is to it being 'childish' rather than offensive, in which case, I think you are being unreasonable.

People have differences in senses of humour - it may not be what you find funny but there is no need to get upset.

Sperm, spunk, blow job has been mentioned dozens of times on this thread and has not made you nauseous enough to stop posting.

Which makes me think you are just being a little intolerent of their humour rather than being offended at the title.

Molesworth · 22/02/2007 15:00

I'm sure if mn towers are happy to let "cunting sainsburys" stand, they're unlikely to take action over "minty sperm"

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 22/02/2007 15:01

"Live and let live. We all have different opinions which is why we usually have the priviledge of picking and choosing which threads to go on"

totally agree rhubarb which is exactly why i posted this
"perhaps we could just agree to disagree and you leave us to it?"
further down but sadly i was ignored.

Rhubarb · 22/02/2007 15:01

Actually yes I think a thread title with the word cunt in it is also inappropriate and childish.

Consideration, again, of others who have different views to you? I didn't think my thread title calling my boss a vegetable was offensive particularly, but others did so I got it deleted.

MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 15:01

TC .. euuwww you use the word 'spermy' in front of your kids .. I wouldn't even use that in front of adults

eat up yer yogurts girls its quite spermy

oh no no no

but totally agree with you on the Sainsbury's thread .. and commented at the time

I got quote of the week for being mean to the homeopaths! [smug]

But I don't think Abby will go for 'cunting minty spunk'.

TeetheCeeofDavedom · 22/02/2007 15:02

QUESTION - To all thiose that find the spermy, spunky (what was the word used?) offensive. Did you also find the 'Cunting Sainsburys' thread offensive as well?

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 15:02

In the immortal words of Father Jack...

"I'm soooo soooo soooorry" that my cringeworthy thread title offended you.

Right I'm going to take my cunting pregnant hormonal ass elsewhere.

Booboobedoo · 22/02/2007 15:02

Is it full moon? Why's everyone being so miserable and up-tight?

I don't like it when people put 'um' or 'err...' when they disagree with people, but I realise this is entirely my problem.

(Mossy: your thread title is fantastic).

Rhubarb · 22/02/2007 15:03

Ellie - more than happy to leave you guys to it.

TeetheCeeofDavedom · 22/02/2007 15:03

Well ok, actually I can never think of a sentence where I wpould ever need to use the word spermy! LOL! OK, omit that word from one I'd use infront of anyone!

NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 15:03

(I wouldn't use the word cunt in front of my kids! I don't think I'd say it, generally! I think sperm and semen are fine reasonable medical words for things.)

MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 15:03

its the THREAD TITLE issue

its the fact that it gets bumped constantly

I am happy to talk about sperm, gaviscon, blow jobs, whatever but I don't want to be faced with blow jobs by heavily pregnant women imagery when eating my rice crispies

THAT is the issue

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 15:03

Why thank you Booboo!

MrsBadger · 22/02/2007 15:04

NQC, the homeopath quote was inspired and way more deserving than minty spunk .

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 22/02/2007 15:04

so stop bringing it to everyone's attention and causing it to be bumped even more!

FiachraFrogakaDave · 22/02/2007 15:04
NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 15:04

I am getting really tempted to just post 'cunting minty sperm' on lots of different threads, starting with the one about 'are you worth £1 million' ... I think I will go run errands instead ...

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 15:05

Booboo shall we call our next thread "March 07 - nipple twiddling and "saveloy" munching"?

NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 15:05

(Ta MrsB. I have got bored of having the homeopathy argument over and over, so figure I might as well be silly with it ...)

Rhubarb · 22/02/2007 15:05

MrsGV, you have made your point eloquently. But at the risk of being called sexually dysfunctional or worse, I'm leaving, would you care to join me?

MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 15:05

Ellie your last comment makes no sense .. at all .. who's bumping your thread .. cos it isn't me

OP posts:
MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 15:06
