to get upset at inappropriate thread titles

I've obviously made a huge error of judgement commenting on a thread full of hugely pregnant women and I apologise to them for that (pleading temporary insanity of disgusting icky cold)

however

I do hate seeing thread titles popping up all the time in active conversations (because they're ongoinng chats rather than jokes that fade away) that have sexual innuendo in the title .. just seems so uneccessarily childishly assinine

eg an ante natal thread entitled 'minty sperm or original' .. ach!

I hate those ones that go "babies that are wiggling and jiggling" or some such crap. Reminds me of those awful motivational posters they used to have up at work.

I hate being made to cringe!

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 14:22

For the influx...

I don't have a problem with you putting sperm in thread headers, but I do wonder what your partners are eating to give them semen like gaviscon...

Cashncarry · 22/02/2007 14:22

sunshine banana
beanies
(((hugs)))

FGS - someone else is upset. What's wrong with everyone this morning? They're so bloomin' touchy

northerner · 22/02/2007 14:23

baby dancing his hilarious.

belgo · 22/02/2007 14:23

My personal pet hate is anything involving the words 'lady garden'

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 14:23

Sunshine banana is sugary cereal in shiny powdery flake form that people think is an appropriate breakfast for a 4mo baby.

Cashncarry · 22/02/2007 14:23

What the feck is baby dust?

Actually, don't tell me - I'll just be off to retch again!

itsmeNDaveP · 22/02/2007 14:23

But tutter, I do not want to KNOW the texture of anyones cervical mucous

fret not ndp, i have no plans to share the details of mine

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 14:24

(Oh, sorry, we weren't sharing?)

itsmeNDaveP · 22/02/2007 14:24

CnC - babydust is some sort of virtual good luck powder to be sprinkled on those shagging with intent

Rhubarb · 22/02/2007 14:24

I did cringe when I read their thread title. I don't care what it alludes to, I didn't think it nice either.

MegaLegs · 22/02/2007 14:25

I think this thread is pretty unfair. Every now and again a particular group on MN gets a going over. I've seen it happen with SN and the Fly Ladies and TTC threads.

Live and let live etc...

NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 14:26

Your hunkerness, if you want to get into battle with the spoon-mad, I will have your back ...

Cashncarry · 22/02/2007 14:26

rofl at virtual good luck powder!

NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 14:26

And yeah, I'm much happier with cunting minty spunk than I am with ((((hugs)))), babydust, and similar twee pukeworthy shite.

beckybrastraps · 22/02/2007 14:26

Sorry but lol at 'inappropriate' and 'not nice'.

It's an in-joke clearly.

Like fanjo.

Is that OK because it's a euphemism?

Cashncarry · 22/02/2007 14:28

Oh come on we're just having a laugh

It's not insults aimed at any particular group - just at internet-isms and internet etiquette really. I'm finding it pretty educational

lulumama · 22/02/2007 14:28

let's have a group hug (((hug))) and a nice cup of tea!

so solids crew???
this i must find !

MrsBadger · 22/02/2007 14:28

[heaving even more now I know what Sunshine Banana is]

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 14:28

NQC

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 22/02/2007 14:29

perhaps we could just agree to disagree and you leave us to it?

we've all seen the less than friendly threads on MN and were quite glad that ours had escaped it.

if we provided you with somewhere to vent then so be it, but can you just leave us in peace now please?

MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 14:29

of FGS Megalegs ..we're not having a go at anyone rather we're discussing whether it is appropriate to use thread titles that can offend other people and cannot be ignored

we've all been pregnant you know.. its nothing to do with being pregnant its about choice of words that others cannot ignore

kind of like when people post In the News and put the devastating facts in the thread title and it stays in active conversations all the time ... so people who get upset by it can't ignore it

I'm personally quite offended that anyone would equate this kind of discussion with what went on with the SN boards
