I can report that all is quiet this morning, sadly. The OP has put a piece of tape across the drive, (it certainly isn't a penguin bollard). There are no cars on the drive.

The carer arrived, and has parked on the single yellow line outside Nicholarse's house using a disabled badge.

It was me (imso's friend) who reported the chain yesterday - I was driving past at 6ish and couldn't really make it out properly in the dark. I attempted to walk past on the way home from the school run, but I was with and acquaintance who knows where I live (so knows there's no reason for me to walk they way), but who I don't know well enough to admit how over involved I've become in an Internet thread!!

The original OP has probably gone - she's probably freaked out by strangers stalking her home! Nice as it is that you're updating us, it must feel weird to have your anonymity disappear and people to drive past your house to check out what's going on.
