Just that really - mine were 4-5 days previously but for last two years are only 2 days then spotting.

I'm early 30s no DC's yet and wondering if I should be concerned?

Mine used to be 4-5 days and heavy as a teenager before I went on the pill. Stopped altogether when I switched to the mini-pill in early 30s. I finally went off the pill a year ago (at 36) because we were thinking about TTC and my new periods were surprisingly light, 2-3 days max and only one of moderate flow. Only ever needed regular tampons, even at night. I did wonder if this meant there was a problem but once we did actually start TTC I got pregnant second month of trying so I guess not!!

SoleBizzz · 09/01/2017 01:22

14 days . 12 flooding. Fibroid hell

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 09/01/2017 01:31

2 days spotting - 2 days heavy - 2 days medium - 1 day spotting. Have 1 child and adenomyosis (so count myself lucky they aren't worse)

Redglitter · 09/01/2017 01:45

Mine now literally lasts 36 hours. First 12 hours next to nothing. 12 hours very heavy then almost nothing to clear. 2 days is a long one for me now

steff13 · 09/01/2017 01:53

About five days, 1 light/spotting, 3 VERY heavy, 1 light/spotting.

I'm usually like clockwork, but it was late this month. Very annoying.

LauderSyme · 09/01/2017 01:58

Last year mine became very irregular and erratic, either very light or very heavy and no predictability. Then they stopped altogether for a few months. Went to my GP as thought it might be early menopause. Turns out my medication had sent my levels of the hormone prolactin soaring, so my body was basically behaving as if I was breastfeeding!

Thadius · 09/01/2017 02:43

Before I has the coil very light maybe 3 to for days and no pain. Now with the coil very heavy, lots of pain ( that are like contractions) and 7 to 10 days

elliejjtiny · 09/01/2017 02:50

About a week with lots of flooding. I have 5 dc and with each pregnancy my periods have got heavier but also less painful. So now I can make it through a whole period on 4 paracetamol altogether (before dc1 I was taking max dose of co-codamol and ibuprofen) but I've got flooding like something out of a horror movie. On day 2 and 3 I'm scared to sit down in public because of leaks. I take tranexamic acid now, before that it was worse.

altik · 09/01/2017 04:13

Usually one day and very light. Sometimes two.

I'm early 40s, so not sure if it's the change. I used to have very heavy periods, but only had 4/5 periods a year. I now get about 10 a year, but barely anything.

Who knows what's going on!?!

Gingernaut · 09/01/2017 04:25

They used to be very painful and all over the calendar when I was in my teens to thirties.

The flow would vary from haemorrhage for a week to heavy to light flow for nearly a fortnight.

There would be no warning that anything was coming until severe cramping pain started about an hour or two before the flow.

About 12 years ago, I suddenly developed iliac fossa pain. On my right side. It was severe and I finished work early to go to the GP thinking "appendix".

Nope. Mittelschmerz. Ovulation pain.

From then on, it didn't matter how irregular they were, if the ovulation pain came, then, regular as clockwork, one week later, I'd start bleeding.

Perimenopause has started, same thing. No pain, no period. For six months.

Then the pain started again. Period.

Very strong flow for the first two days, lighter for the next two, almost nothing for the last day. 5 days total now.

I also end up increasingly constipated leading up to the day it starts, then that starts flowing again as well.

However, I take antidepressants which also cause constipation, so I can't rely on that as an indicator.

RocketPockets · 09/01/2017 08:26

Before I had my ds I had the implant and was 2 weeks on 2 weeks off then had it out & was back to normal 7ish days.
Since I had my son I have 2 days very heavy, 2 days medium/light, 4 days light/spotting.

user1480946351 · 09/01/2017 08:58

People have 2 day periods? Like, as the norm?

Lucky lucky bastards.

Isetan · 09/01/2017 08:59

I'm mid forties and in the last year I've gone from four to five days and from light to very heavy (I am so over it). The heavy periods are costing me a fortune and are so bloody inconvenient, I really can't go two hours without having to change both tampon and sanitary towel. I don't suffer with period pains so I am still bloody lucky, it's just, I didn't appreciate how lucky I was before.

WhingeFuckingWhinge · 09/01/2017 09:23

Interesting replies!

I don't know if I'm lucky or not - even when they were 4-5 days they weren't too heavy except day 1 and never any pain etc but I'm just worried the change to 2 days and lighter is a sign of fertility issues and as I've not had dc yet it certainly wouldn't be a lucky thing if it's indicative of a problem but it's comforting to read others with short periods have managed to conceive ok Confused

I didn't have one for 2 and a half years but now they have come back with a vengeance Sad 6-7 days

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 09/01/2017 09:43

33, one DD. 4 days, 2 heavy, 1 medium, 1 light. Super regular every 4 weeks.

ApollO88 · 09/01/2017 10:19
  1. 1 nearly 6 DS. I started using the clue app back in June to track mine. My period is consistently 3-4days with day 1 being spotting. Day 2 being heavy flow then days 3 and 4 being a light flow. I would recommend the clue app. U can track loads as much or as little as you want to.

If ur ttc or just trying to avoid most fertile times it also predicts ovulation windows

9 -11 days few days before pain then I get a migraine. it's medium flow for 2 heavy for 4 medium for 2 then tails of for light then the ovulation pain kicks in and it's awful after that I get mood swings currently Waiting for scan results on my ovaries

Mrsglitterfairy · 09/01/2017 10:27

I'm 30, have 2 DCs. Mine used to be 3-4 days now I generally have 1 'proper' day and a day or 2 of sporting. I was concerned at first too but the doc just said it was likely due to being on the pill for so long. Now I just feel lucky that it's so short and barely noticeable

MackerelOfFact · 09/01/2017 10:31

Mine used to be a steady 5 days until a couple of years ago. Now they're 2 days really heavy, one day pretty much gone, one day - SUPRISE! - heavy again, and then just spotting for another 2 days.

TheProblemOfSusan · 09/01/2017 10:34

No children, though not for lack of trying, 30s, and I am a three day-er, and pretty predictable - 30 day cycles with slight fluctuations. First day is heavy (though people who get truly awful heavy periods would class it as medium, I suspect), then medium, then last day sometimes medium, sometimes barely anything. First day is incredibly debilitating pain wise, then I rarely have to use medication on the other days.

I have had some fertility tests and no issues have been detected, except my ovaries are polycystic but it's definitely not PCOS,and that apparently isn't a fertility issue, some people are just like that.

amusedbush · 09/01/2017 10:37

I'm 26 and they are five days like clockwork.

Day 1 heavy and crampy, day 2 even heavier but no cramps, day 3 medium, day 4 trailing off, day 5 back with to medium for a last hurrah and then completely finished by the time I wake up on day 6.

RainbowDashian · 09/01/2017 10:49

6-8 days and heavy. Always have been so that's normal to me.

SpookyPotato · 09/01/2017 11:04

About 5 days with the first two being heavyish/achey and last three being lighter. I feel lucky as I have a fibroid (only found through pregnancy scan) so I'm surprised they're not heavier and longer.
