AIBU to be so fed up and confused on pyjama issue

AIBU to be serverly annoyed with all the judgements on pyjama wearers?

Can someone explain to me what the big deal over wearing pyjamas is? I don't understand. I shower daily, I wash my clothes if they are used/unclean. When I get up I get dressed go about my day, come home and shower and put pyjama pants on until I get into bed. I take them off before bed as I only sleep in my underwear. If I don't have anything to do in the day I'll wake up and put the pyjama pants on because they are comfortable and warm. If I then realise I have to go out and make a run to the store I'll just go like this as I usually have my children (4m and 2y) with me and if not I'm trying to do the shop as fast as I can to get back to them as my DH is not the best with small children and often gets flustered. I am not choosing to wear them out of laziness, I choose to wear them out of comfort. They are clean, I am clean. Nothing inappropriate is exposed. So I don't understand how it is hurting anybody. I don't think it's fair to sit and judge people who chose to wear pyjamas and be comfortable and I don't understand why people are so offended by this?
I'm sure there are a few people that do wear them because they are lazy and slobbish but I don't think it's fair to judge all people that wear them this way.

Cara are you taking pictures of people in your spare time. I wonder which is weirder??

PerspicaciaTick · 09/01/2017 00:20

Compare these pictures. One is a picture of slobby pyjamas which must only be worn in bed at night. The other a is a picture of perfectly acceptable joggers which can be worn any time of day, out and about.
Could you really spot the difference on passing? Do you really think that one will damage the children while the other won't?

Because wearing slippers when you're meant to wear slippers is like pyjamas where you aren't meant to wear them... Hmm

OP:
You cannot prevent another user from posting. Just because you started it, you don't own it.

Lolol

We can complain loudly about tee hee and lolling though. Jesus have some fucking decorum, you're on Mumsnet Hmm

mummyof2pr · 09/01/2017 00:23

@cara I didn't ask you not to post, I asked you to not cause issues which is an understandable request

There is nothing wrong with running to the shops in your jammies.

PickledCauliflower · 09/01/2017 00:26

If you are not arsed about what people think - then wear what you want.
Many folk would not wear nightwear outside of their home (unless it was on fire), so they may raise an eyebrow at the sight of people walking around in public wearing pjs.
You cannot change what other people think. It's a personal view on what is suitable daywear out in public, it's not like you can educate people into changing their minds on this.

Wear pjs in public if you want, but don't be surprised that some people find it inappropriate.

Fairy I think cara is ever so slightly hysterical/over excited. Like a few others on this thread.

MyNewBearTotoro · 09/01/2017 00:28

Not trying to make out I am rebellious, just pointing out that in real life people care a lot less about these things than it can often seem from exploring the issue on Mumsnet. My experience was that nobody cared I was wearing slippers, but it was a primary special school (and I worked in the early years department) and quite a laid back environment with regards to dress code compared to mainstream secondary schools.

mummyof2pr · 09/01/2017 00:28

@fizz just seems weird she disappeared for a while and decided to come back and act this way once things had calmed down!

Nothing at all, if it's a one-off emergency. But if it's a way of life, there is.

FizzBombBathTime · 09/01/2017 00:31

AND the classic passive aggressive smile to boot! This one is on fire tonight.

FairyHoneydragonTwinkleScrotum · 09/01/2017 00:32

Nope, I'm Honeydragon. This is my special teepee fairy name. And it has a scrotum.

Wear what you want to the shops. I won't say anything to you.

It's definitely a class indicator around here though.

SumThucker · 09/01/2017 00:36

Cara seems to enjoy creating some discord on most of the threads they're on, IMHO.

FairyHoneydragonTwinkleScrotum · 09/01/2017 00:39

Does she Sum? Ach, it's good for people to have hobbies.

hollinhurst84 · 09/01/2017 00:42

I have worn pj bottoms outside the house but only for specific things. Basically if it's late at night and I'm not being seen then...
Taking the rubbish out
Running outside at 1am to catch a rare Pokemon Blush
Realising I had no milk so I drove to the garage and nipped out, it was 11.30pm and nobody saw me

SumThucker · 09/01/2017 00:43

Indeed, Honey.

Insomnibrat · 09/01/2017 00:46

Wear PJ's out to the shops. Don't wear PJ's out to the shops. Whatever, if it makes you happy, it doesn't affect me......but I'll still silently judge you.

PerspicaciaTick · 09/01/2017 01:02

Insomnibrat - but are you judging people who are actually wearing PJs, or are you accidentally judging people who are wearing joggers that look like PJs. Should people also avoid wearing clothing that might be mistaken for nightwear - so strappy cotton frocks in summer that look like nighties?
