AIBU to be so fed up and confused on pyjama issue

AIBU to be serverly annoyed with all the judgements on pyjama wearers?

Can someone explain to me what the big deal over wearing pyjamas is? I don't understand. I shower daily, I wash my clothes if they are used/unclean. When I get up I get dressed go about my day, come home and shower and put pyjama pants on until I get into bed. I take them off before bed as I only sleep in my underwear. If I don't have anything to do in the day I'll wake up and put the pyjama pants on because they are comfortable and warm. If I then realise I have to go out and make a run to the store I'll just go like this as I usually have my children (4m and 2y) with me and if not I'm trying to do the shop as fast as I can to get back to them as my DH is not the best with small children and often gets flustered. I am not choosing to wear them out of laziness, I choose to wear them out of comfort. They are clean, I am clean. Nothing inappropriate is exposed. So I don't understand how it is hurting anybody. I don't think it's fair to sit and judge people who chose to wear pyjamas and be comfortable and I don't understand why people are so offended by this?
I'm sure there are a few people that do wear them because they are lazy and slobbish but I don't think it's fair to judge all people that wear them this way.

gobby read your post back. It was nasty. You certainly live up to your user name.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 08/01/2017 22:01

OP - what are you trying to achieve with this thread?

You already know from similar threads what the majority view is on this issue

Telling us how comfy your PJs are isn't going to change our opinion!

Boogers · 08/01/2017 22:01

gobby this has fuck all to do with weight or size. Again ODFOD.

WaitrosePigeon · 08/01/2017 22:02

Ok, I will answer.

The 'big deal' with wearing pyjamas outside of the house is the indication to other people about the way in which you live your life.
Wearing pyjamas outside of the house will be a small part of a bigger picture of other undesirable traits someone most probably possesses.

Mynestisfullofempty · 08/01/2017 22:03

I don't understand why the people who like to wear pyjamas (at other times than to go to bed) say that it's because they're comfortable. All my clothes, whether smart or casual, are comfortable. Why are you pyjama wearers wearing uncomfortable clothes when you're not wearing pyjamas? Confused

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 08/01/2017 22:04

I just don't like that bedtime feel during the daytime. It makes me feel like an invalid, I like to feel a separation between daytime and nighttime and that is distinguished by certain things like getting up in the morning, showering and putting on different clothes that I wear until I go to bed at night. I always disliked and still dislike it when I'm not well and have to spend the day in bed wearing pyjamas. Pyjamas are for nighttime. Nothing wrong with casual clothes at home but just not your bedtime wear.

Absolutely true, but then we go back to the "why would you"? There are so many things that aren't illegal, but... don't people have pride anymore?

If you look at photos of people wearing them, I honestly think it looks dirty but mainly very sad, like they have given up. Grim.

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 22:05

@shagged as I've said I just wanted an explanation as to how it did anyone any harm and to why people felt the need to make such extreme judgements. THat is all.

If I was wearing a bra or a crop top and a mini skirt then I would be dressing like a tramp.

You don't want to be judged on PJs outside but you judge a woman dressed in a mini skirt? What assumptions have you made about this young lady OP?

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 22:06

@mambo but of course the photos look bad. If someone looked decent doing so where would you get posting a picture of them? They post the people that look indecent for the response.

@astro again read the thread. Have been numerous posts addressing this. Thank you.

I don't understand how the OP clothes aren't comfortable if they fit her properly. I'm not fat shaming, a size 8 would be uncomfortable in size 6 clothes, because if they bought a size 6 and put on weight they'd be too big for their clothes.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 08/01/2017 22:08

I would love to see a photo of someone looking classy, together and dignified while doing their shopping wearing PJs Grin

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 22:09

@gobby FFS read the thread!!!!!!! I didn't say they aren't comfortable. I have stated they are numerous times. The materials in which my pyjama bottoms are made happens to be softer and more comfortable.

Mummy

Please don't

Foureyesarebetterthantwo · 08/01/2017 22:11

So, basically your PJs are loungewear anyway.

Issue solved!

mummyof2pr · 08/01/2017 22:11

@foureyes but they are pyjamas! Sold in the PJ section, labelled PJ!

Agree with perfumed - slovenly, infantilising weird. Although never seen this myself I wonder if all a big hoax - cannot imagine grown adults walking the streets in babygrows or pyjamas. Very strange.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 08/01/2017 22:12

Why have we got two threads on this very dull non-issue?

mambono5 · 08/01/2017 22:13

Even at a premiere, I don't think it's a look that works. She does look groomed, washed and cleaned, (and very pretty), but I think the outfit is ridiculous.

I doubt most pjs wearer look that polished anyway.

AIBU to be so fed up and confused on pyjama issue
FizzBombBathTime · 08/01/2017 22:14

mambo someone else's pride or lack of shouldn't get you this het up though. It's wierd.

gobby find a dark room and take some deep breaths dude.

glitterazi · 08/01/2017 22:16

It's the whole "can't be arsed to even get dressed" attitude.
Just WHY would you go to the shops in your pyjamas?! Makes zero sense.
Like it or not, you WILL get judged for it. Smacks of "too lazy to even get dressed in a morning", "doesn't have any proper clothes, poor sod", "not got a life worth getting dressed and worth facing every day" and if you have kids it sends out a GREAT example. (Not)
Takes minutes to get dressed, and this comes from the biggest slob clothes wise going.
