To think we are all just accepting the state of the NHS?

I've seen so many threads on AIBU just in the last couple of days where people are just accepting the state of the NHS and finding ways around the lack of funding and scant resources.

I've filled in questionnaires and petitions. I share things on Facebook supporting Doctors/ Nurses and NHS. I vote Labour (whether that really helps I don't know).

I just don't know what else to do. It is ridiculous now and we're all just accepting it. I am dreading my parents old age (they are already past 70).

What can I do? What can we do?

EU immigration has caused a humanitarian crisis in the UK

BOLLOCKS

EU Migrants have kept the economy going

  • the UK does not train enough builders and plumbers
  • the UK does not train enough doctors
  • the low birth rate resulted in shortages of young able bodied people
so we had to import them - as has been the case for decades

Stop blaming immigrants! It's the aging population and underfunding.
I also agree with Tiger - the best thing you can for yourself is keep fit and healthy. Our population is not only getting older but unhealthier which is increasing the strain on the NHS.

Stop blaming immigrants!

Take Kettering as an example

Kettering's population has been swollen by EU immigration

According to residents, it is nigh on impossible to get a GP appointment

Those unable to see the GP are forced to use emergency services

Kettering General Hospital is currently on black alert

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/01/2017 08:35

Well if all those immigrants were all on benefits and not working you might have a point

But they are not

GraceGrape · 10/01/2017 09:27

Lovelearning, it's nigh on impossible to get a GP appointment in my town too. We have virtually no immigration.

drinkswineoutofamug · 10/01/2017 10:41

It's a basic 3 week wait for a GP appointment anywhere. Maybe if the GP hadn't been allowed to opt out. But to be fair , a lot of the GPs also work in drop in clinics or the GPooh service.
It's bollocks blaming immigration . It's lack of proper organised funding. Money being spent on Ethiopias spice girls rather than social care.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/01/2017 11:03

I fear the funding is actually organised.

Don't fund social care appropriately
Make it impossible to get GP appointments
Slash mental health funding

Therefore increase demand on A and E services and hospitals. Hospitals then can't cope. Government can say hospitals not coping / not efficient and fine them. Cycle continues. NHS slowly collapses.

EnormousTiger · 10/01/2017 11:36

It is not 3 week wait at our rather good very large group practice GP by the way. In fact if it is urgent you can turn up and wait. If it's not it may be a week but often sooner.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/01/2017 11:40

Actually I have to say my local GPs is pretty good too in terms of getting an appointment.

Graphista · 10/01/2017 16:24

Toostressy terrifyingly I think you may be right re funding IS organised to orchestrate the collapse of the nhs

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/01/2017 16:46

Certainly a lot of public sector workers think the agenda is collapse (not all obviously). As PP said, the Tories aren't exactly known for their support of the NHS and we know the opposition is a joke.

What can we do? No idea short of organising your own political party in support of the NHS but with an honest debate about public sector funding, which won't get anyone elected Sad.

ExplodedCloud · 10/01/2017 17:07

Too nobody will get excited about public sector staff. We've all got gold plated pensions don't you know. Hmm
There's been a hatchet job done on public services
