How many dates did you have with your DP/DH before you slept together? Is there such thing as too soon?

We kissed on the first date on Friday and I got the nice sparky feeling that I haven't had in a long long time. But I was quite tipsy so I'm wondering how much that had to do with it Grin

8 dates. Married 18 months later, now expecting our first baby in the next few weeks (together over three years).

I wouldn't do it before 3-5 dates generally. Mainly because I don't trust people.

Wheelycote · 08/01/2017 11:10

2nd date together going on 8years

MummyToThree479 · 08/01/2017 11:59

First date here!

I've never really obsesses with just wait x amount of dates or it won't last. It doesn't work like that something either works or it doesn't

If two consenting people want to fuck each other then I don't see any problem with it

Oysterbabe · 08/01/2017 12:03

3rd date.
Although we didn't hang about, before then would have been too soon for me as I didn't feel like I knew him well enough.

PurpleMinionMummy · 08/01/2017 12:04

A few wks. Interestingly he was the only one that ever turned into a long term partner (now dh), but I think that was just coincidence.

If you feel it, go for it, as long as you're happy and comfortable.

preciouspig · 08/01/2017 12:05

The night we met. If they are the one I dont think there is such thing as too soon.

Lifes short

dollydaydream114 · 08/01/2017 12:13

There were no dates before we had sex. I'd been working with him for a few weeks (with zero flirting, I must say) and then we slept together after someone's leaving drinks and after that were just a couple; there was no formal dating as such. We've been together 14 years.

I've never "waited" to sleep with anyone (except my first proper boyfriend as a teenager) although I've always known them a bit through friends or work first. I don't actually like 'dating' in the formal sense.

DancingHouse · 08/01/2017 12:14

3 years or first date depending on how you look at it.

We were good friends before it happened and we've been together ever since. 6 years

Mulberry72 · 08/01/2017 12:23

2nd date here too! I'd known him a couple of months previously to going on "proper" dates, but I absolutely 100% knew that he was "The One", we've been together 15 years, married for 11 and have DS(10).

joystir59 · 08/01/2017 12:40

we worked together for months before, so we knew each other. It was:
hug
proposal of marriage
first date- slept seperately
slept together a week later
moved in together a year later
Got married 3 months later.
been together 5 years.
Its the only time I've fallen in love before having sex. I'm 59. She is 54. She is the love of my life.

joystir59 · 08/01/2017 12:41

also- I hate dating, and we only had one real date before DTD.

McPie · 08/01/2017 12:42

After 6 days which will be 20 years ago this July!

lavenirestanous · 08/01/2017 12:47

Within hours of meeting. Been together 33 years. I felt comfortable with him from the start in a way that I never had with anyone else.

spooniestudent · 08/01/2017 13:24

A couple of weeks before first 'proper' date

FannyCradock · 08/01/2017 13:27

4th date, we knew each other for 6 months before dating.

ZippyNeedsFeeding · 08/01/2017 14:07

After our first date, 24 years ago.

witsender · 08/01/2017 14:20

Had known each other through friends for a while. Got ridiculously drunk and slept together. Went on a series of dates over a week, knew it was right. He went away for 4 months or so, kept chatting. He came back in the Feb, we moved in together in the June and her proposed in the Oct, a year to the day of our first snog. Married 6 months later, now coming up to 8 years married with a 6 and 4 yr old. Have never been the butterflies type and still am not, but he's the one I'm meant to be married to.

Crumbs1 · 08/01/2017 15:19

Surely "too soon" is when you are not prepared to accept potential consequences of sex - a pregnancy.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/01/2017 15:26

First night we met. It was my intentions for it be a ONS, but. Almost 4 years later. We're still together.
There's no too soon or too long.

cocopopsrock · 08/01/2017 15:38

We waited about 6 weeks... still together 14 years later

Ice3 · 08/01/2017 15:40

We didn't really date. First night we met each other.

Grilledaubergines · 08/01/2017 15:43

Around a year.

krustykittens · 08/01/2017 15:46

First date, he moved in six weeks later and we have been together for 20 years, married for 16!

SeriousCreativeBlock · 08/01/2017 15:48

First time we met. We met online and had been chatting for a few days. He was trying to be a gentleman and wait, but I wanted it Grin
