Frequent poster, name changed for this.
Need some advice, DH saying A&E but I don't want to be seen as a time waster.

Currently suffering from sever lower abdominal pains, passed out twice from the pain. Have just started bleeding fairly heavily but have already had period this month. Can't think straight because of pain. Just really worried because can't put it down to period pains as that happend last week. Any advise would be great, what
Would you do?

Oh shit I'm sorry midsummer I did wonder Sad

I'm very sorry for your loss and I'm wishing you an easy recovery Flowers

Very dangerous attitude from notanotherusername and one I hope nobody listens to. I had severe lower abdominal pain and when googling it read 'if you have an ovarian cyst you'll be in too much pain to be reading this right now'. Convinced then that I had constipation, of course in the end it transpired that I had a massive cyst that twisted my tube causing my ovary to die. I lost my tube and my ovary.

If you are in severe pain, or are bleeding profusely, seek help - don't just dismiss it as women's problems.

Glad you are on the mend OP.

ophiotaurus · 08/01/2017 22:11

So sorry this happened but glad you were in the right place to get it sorted. Can't imagine what could have happened if you had stayed home.
Take care and wish you a speedy recovery Flowers

Thisusername....
Last summer I felt unwell, and was wondering whether to go to A&E or not. DH was also unsure, and your post would have made us delay. Fortunately my teenage children made us go, I had a very elevated heart rate, which it took time and drugs to bring down. I was kept in overnight and nearly had a transfusion.
I don't think most people on MN are the kind to go to A&E without need unless they can't see a doctor any other way.
I know there are previous occasions when I should have gone to A&E but couldn't make that call clearly in the "heat of the moment".

Italiangreyhound · 08/01/2017 22:58

midsummernight I did have a vague thought of miscarriage, this was in my mind but you were already going to hospital. I had to go to A and E after I miscarried, I was told it would be a small amount of blood but it was not. My dh left it to me to decide and it was quite unnerving because afterwards I was quite angry he didn't insist in taking me to A and E quickly. I ended up in for a few days.

I also usually think of eptopic pregnancy but on this occasion, I did not.

Anyway, I guess we are all relived you are OK and very relieved you did not consider yourself a time waster!

Thanks XXXX

Just seen this. How scary. Hope your recovery is swift

lurkingfromhome · 09/01/2017 13:29

haveacupoftea - can I also echo what you said and add that I had the same as you - massive cyst that twisted round my ovary and killed it, needed surgery to remove cyst and ovary, and actually had no pain at all. Only symptom was that periods suddenly went haywire, by which time it was a pretty urgent case.

Agree with you that it is very dangerous to make these stupid blanket pronouncements that might discourage people from seeking help when it is needed.

lurkingfromhome · 09/01/2017 13:30

And OP, so glad you hear you are recovering. Flowers

BabychamSocialist · 09/01/2017 15:26

Oh OP, I was praying for an update, but that wasn't the one I wanted to see.

I had a miscarriage and I know how hard it is. Hope you have good support and people around you. We're all here for you. Flowers

OP, just read this. So glad you went in when you did. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Your symptoms were definitely ones which would class as urgent.

The posts by Notanother are particularly dangerous and unwise. If you had listened to that advice then the possible results hardly bear thinking about.

I notice that Notanother has gone quiet for now.
