and unless you roll around and rub up and down in dog poo, its not likely to make your hair and clothes smell for hours afterwards or make you cough or choke as you walk past it

And its funny how it's nicotine actually being defended but in fact it's toilet cleaner, paint stripper, rocket fuel, piss, mothballs, embalming fluid, arsenic, cadmium (anyone fancy sucking a Duracell?), best of all, COW FARTS and
hydrogene cyanide - which, by the way, does have an immediate short-term affect such as nausea, dizziness and vomiting so 5 mins exposure at a bus-stop for kiddies? Yes, it is bad news.

Peridot30 · 23/02/2007 11:53

Im a non smoker but think you are being bit OTT the are OUTSIDE for goodness sake. What is this world coming to!

fay68 · 23/02/2007 12:00

I know

Just that the ingredients make me pmsl.

On a more serious note, though.
Where and how is the line drawn with all this can and can't do in public spaces? Why is smoking outside defended so much and having it off on a park bench isn't?

crazylazydaisy · 23/02/2007 12:01

But Peridot, why does it matter whether its outside or inside? If a LO is being affected then THAT should be the bottom line - shouldn't it?

Caligula · 23/02/2007 12:03

But dogshit is outside too, you don't have to tread in it if you're careful and walk round it, but surely no-one's arguing that it's OK?

fay68 · 23/02/2007 12:06

BTW I may pmsl but the facts don't change or get any funnier.

fay68 · 23/02/2007 12:10

I think things that are bad for you are the things defended most staunchly - a matter of pride.
Look at Bush. Now, that is what I call highly self-delusional! Smart, though, doesn't smoke. Aparently wants to live for a very long time. Very.

mumto3girls · 23/02/2007 16:26

Smoking is awful. Whether or not someones smoking gives a child cancer ( god forbid) is not the main issue. My dd's used to get terrible ear ache, sore throats and chesty coughs just from being sbjected to their nana smoking when ever they went to visit her. Even just a few hours would do this...

hence they no longer visit as apparently smoking to her is more important than seeing them....sad.

mumto3girls · 23/02/2007 16:27

I should explain further - I mean of course whether it gives cancer is a main issue - but as everyone says a small amount of exposure wouldn't do that I felt I should add what my dd's suddered through being subjected to nana's chain smoking...

franca70 · 23/02/2007 16:47

I do think car fumes are far more dangerous for little ones (and the planet in general) than cigarettes being smoked outside.
at mumto3 nana chain smoking inside when her granddaughters visited.
