AIBU to think I should be able to get into my car?

Driver's door blocked by a selfish twunt parked on the pavement between two legally parked cars.
Due to mobility problems I'm not agile enough to get in from the passenger side.
Looks like I'm getting the bus to work this afternoon then.

AIBU to think I should be able to get into my car?

Got out by virtue of managing to get the keys in the ignition and letting the handbrake off while neighbour's boyfriend pushed.

As for blue badge, wouldn't happen. Firstly it's private land, and secondly the mobility issues are transient.
Its an old sports injury that flares up every once in a while (doctors never able to get to the root cause before it dies down again) and just means I can't rotate my hip and shoulder joints fully or without pain and I need to open the door a bit further to rotate round. Clambering over would have been too much.
In terms of driving out of the car park, nose in is actually easier as I have to do a 180 turn when nose out but can get the door open wider if I open it to the pavement.

And the buggers are spawning.
Silver car in private car park - arrived last night - and the black car has blocked them in.

Wtf? You need someone to spray paint "this is a pavement not a parking space" on the pavement apparently...

dailyshite · 06/01/2017 10:34

You started the other thread too didn't you? Sounds like a nightmare where you live!

Manumission · 06/01/2017 10:39

A pair of widely spaced bollards on the pavement between the parking spaces is fairly standard. That would fix it.

Is this basically a residential car park? Is there a managing body of some kind?

hellsbellsmelons · 06/01/2017 10:47

OMG - I'm so very glad I have a massive drive now.
I had to deal with nightmare parking for years in West London.
Have you put a big massive note on the car?
Or as a PP said, lipstick PA comment?
It's a bugger to get off but not doing any damage!

confuugled1 · 06/01/2017 11:10

Hmm. Think if the policemen said that it was technically still possible to get in, I'd have asked them to demonstrate how that was the case as I knew I couldn't get in the other side. I'd the get the policeman to pull the car out for me while they were in the car.

Apparently Vaseline is good to use to hold a note down on a windscreen if you are worried about it flying off - a real pain to get off (especially if you smeared a generous amount on to secure the note..., and unlike glue you can say that Vaseline is not permanent whereas some perceive glue to be potentially criminal damage.

Breagha85 · 06/01/2017 11:39

Manumission it's a public road with a private car park on either side.

Maybe highlight to the local council that this is a regular issue then? You have plenty of photos.

Breagha85 · 06/01/2017 16:07

Just arrived home and the bugger is still here.
Should I just Parkin my own space?

Park with your passenger door right against his drivers door Wink

ohfourfoxache · 06/01/2017 16:31

Agree Alice Smile

BabySnores · 06/01/2017 16:47

What a prat. Send to youparklikeacunt.com and put a note to say so on their windscreen. Can you park so your passanger side is flush to their car door giving you more space?

Vinorosso74 · 06/01/2017 17:12

Cockwomble. Some people just don't care I like the idea of a message written in lipstick on the windscreen.
My parents live on an estate built in the 70s in a naice area which seems to bring out the worst in parking as a lot of houses have 2+ cars although they have drives for 2/3 cars and garages (my dad may still be the only person who uses his garage for a car mind). Cars and wheelie bins (on bin day) blocking pavements all over the place.

BoxLoadingBaby · 16/01/2017 08:22

Another fucker's done it. Even bent my wing mirror to get in.

P stands for "prick" I reckon.

Oh and name changed

Thattimeofyearagain · 16/01/2017 08:27

Fucking idiots. Yup, Vaseline a note on to the window. Gits Angry

NormaSmuff · 16/01/2017 08:28

can you not park facing the other way in future?

Shock that it keeps happening though Angry

BabySnores · 16/01/2017 08:30

Nice parking for a new driver. Leave them a message for sure.

BoxLoadingBaby · 16/01/2017 08:33

Norma I need the space of the pavements to get the door wide enough to get out. The guy who has the space next to me drives a huge car which he can't seem to get between the lines

WatchingFromTheWings · 16/01/2017 08:37

You need to start parking partially on the pavement I think. At least you'll know the police will do sod all about it if someone reports you.

NormaSmuff · 16/01/2017 08:40

Can you put a sticker on your door?/window, saying you need space?

BabySnores · 16/01/2017 08:58

WatchingFromTheWings is right, block them from parking and give yourself more space. So you have a blue badge.

I'd block it by parking over and put a note in my windscreen saying 'due to arse holes illegally parking and blocking in this driver who has mobility issues I have had to borrow this space. '
