AIBU to think I should be able to get into my car?

Driver's door blocked by a selfish twunt parked on the pavement between two legally parked cars.
Due to mobility problems I'm not agile enough to get in from the passenger side.
Looks like I'm getting the bus to work this afternoon then.

AIBU to think I should be able to get into my car?

Can't you get int your car through the passenger side?

KnittedBlanketHoles · 05/01/2017 17:15

Can you think of someone small and agile who could get on and move it out for you? Even going in through the boot?

Not that you should have to they ABU.

Classic!

Breagha85 · 05/01/2017 17:21

Am on my own Knitted.
In any case, the boot has two dog guards (one at rear and one between boot and cabin) so I ain't getting in that way

All this aside, it's the principle as much as anything - only superbly cunty people park on the pavement

So police have arrived and after first claiming it's on private property (it's not, the spaces are private the road is public) they are now saying they can't tow it as technically my car is accessible from the passenger side (despite me pointing out that in my case it's not)

OP posts:
RB68 · 05/01/2017 17:41

technically my arse, perhaps they can hop in and move it for you

Breagha85 · 05/01/2017 17:43

They didn't offer. They've gone to chap his door - which isn't even round here

I don't know who's worse on that parklikeacunt website, the dodgy parkers or the professionally offended people reporting it.

justanotherusername0 · 05/01/2017 19:53

Ah I see! Sorry didn't mean to patronise you etc. Just thought I'd point it out just in case

HeCantBeSerious · 05/01/2017 19:55

I wonder how they managed to get out, there's not exactly loads of room either side!

I used to park (perfectly legally) in a space narrower than this (no doors could be opened as had concrete walls either side). I'd pull up, open tailgate, take out parcel shelf, reverse in, climb out of boot, put parcel shelf back in, close tailgate, lock car and go.

Meant I didn't have to be at work at 6am (9-5 job) just to get a space!

If you've made it clear you're unable to get in they should do something about a car fully blocking the pavement.

CaroleService · 05/01/2017 20:08

Can i recommend you park partly over the pavement, just by a foot maybe, in future?

haveacupoftea · 05/01/2017 20:17

See when you are 8 or 9 months pregnant, can you park in parent and child spaces in case something like this happens? I know technically anyone can park in them, but is it unacceptable parking etiquette?

Breagha85 · 05/01/2017 21:15

It's still fucking there! Ive got to take my elderly mother to a doctors appointment tomorrow morning so bloody hope it's gone by then.

OP posts:
daquee101 · 05/01/2017 21:19

@haveacupoftea I wouldn't even go there on mumsnet ...

madgingermunchkin · 05/01/2017 21:22

I'd be making bloody big dents in his door with mine. And then when he claims/phones his insurance you can show them that photo and tell them he's parked illegally. Thens he's fucked cos they won't pay out, and yours won't either.

OneWithTheForce · 05/01/2017 21:23

Shock what an asshole!! Do you know anyone who could bump their car further up the pavement with theirs so you can get in? Also shocked the police think it's fine to leave it there!! What about pedestrian access? People with wheelchairs, prams etc? They can't get past without going into the middle of the road?? Not acceptable.

Cherrysoup · 05/01/2017 21:28

Leave a note threatening to have it towed. Some twat did the same to me at Tesco: I managed to get in the passenger side, but the central console (retro fitted ) is fucking enormous, I have mobility issues and can't get in unless I can open my door fully. I was fuming. Some people are so inconsiderate, the wanker was parked about six inches from my door, I have no idea how he or she got out of their car.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 05/01/2017 21:28

That's awful. I carry my trusty red lipstick for instances like this so I can leave them a PA message on their windows.

Admirable restraint.

I was making piggy eyes at my keys when I saw that photo.

lljkk · 05/01/2017 21:33

Can someone else squeeze into your car & just move it a few feet in some direction to allow you in?

Then park on pavement in future, I fear.

AliceInUnderpants · 05/01/2017 21:34

What an absolute cunt.
What did the police say when you said you couldn't access from the passenger side?

Snowflakes1122 · 05/01/2017 21:38

Yanbu.
Didn't you post about this before?

Purplefrogshoes · 05/01/2017 21:57

Some asshole did this to me in a hospital car park. I'm disabled and had my one year old with me. The police when the finally turned up climbed in through the boot and reversed it out for me. I hope they move soon op

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 05/01/2017 22:04

What a wanker. I'm so sorry they've done that to you and that the police were so unhelpful.
