To think some of these names are bloody ludicrous?

www.tatler.com/news/articles/december-2016/posh-baby-names-2017

Tatler have done 'all the hard work' and picked out the best names for 2017.

I give you:

Scar, Czar-Czar and Power for girls

and

NPeter (the N is silent), Wigbert and Yak for boys.

Among others.

Is Ptolemy out of date now then?

:o

Bonus points for the first person to hear 'Wigbert! Put that down and come here now' when out shopping.

Expectant mother on the thread.

Can we choose your baby name greater? Will you please call your baby Wigbert if it's a boy? Pretty please?

Both "N"s are silent in my Username, just in case you were wondering Wink

ShinyMoonFace · 04/01/2017 22:30

makes it very hard to pronounce, {n}ice. :)

vair posh-like, that.

PandoraMole · 04/01/2017 22:31

Wigbert sounds like something I would affectionately nickname one of my guinea pigs (Piggy Wigbert) Grin

SaucyJack · 04/01/2017 22:32

The NHS should introduce mandatory drug testing for all expectant parents.

PandoraMole · 04/01/2017 22:36

So if you have a boy/girl set you could name them Ra and Rara and if you need to call them just start singing Bad Romance.

I quite fancy Figgy and Wigbert (Figgy & Wiggy)!

whippetwoman · 04/01/2017 22:38

It's like that episode of Friends with an MBoscodicthosaur, a made up dinosaur with a silent M. Friends fans will know what I mean. Or it could just be me...

MycatsaPirate · 04/01/2017 22:41

Figgy and Wiggy sounds like a 1930's double act.

SalemSaberhagen · 04/01/2017 22:44

whippet if it's anything like the lake Mbosko...

laylabelle · 04/01/2017 22:45

Love how you have names like victory..npeter..then David lol

Figgy?!?

nicenewdusters · 04/01/2017 22:48

Why thank you InyOonFace

SalemSaberhagen · 04/01/2017 22:50

I'm not one for laughing out loud at things on here usually. But I just cannot stop giggling at Wigbert. I am genuinely crying. Every time I try and stop it just starts again. This is nearly as bad as the hitler octopus on eBay.

Emmageddon · 04/01/2017 23:00

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts if you have twins please call them Ra and Rara. I LOVE Lady Gaga.

WanderingNotLost · 05/01/2017 00:06

Oh god, this thread has made my cry.

To be fair, I do sometimes go on the baby names threads when I need a laugh...

GilMartin · 05/01/2017 01:03

To those saying how lovely Panache is, over here in Switzerland a panache is a shandy!

It is as tacky as hell in my opinion.

It is only a matter of time before there's a thread:

'WIBU to go go NC with my parents, they insist on pronouncing our daughter's name Pan-ash, when we pronounce it Pan-ach-ee.

Grindelwaldswand · 05/01/2017 01:22

I actually like Xanthe or Xanphippe (Kimmy Schmidt to blame) DP agrees with those names too Grin can wait to see MILs face when we finally have DC i might choose Titus for a boy or Fenston too 😂

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 05/01/2017 01:25

I once met someone who told me, in all seriousness, he spelt his name Stanley but he preferred to pronounced it Philip. I accepted his offer of olives and left.

ALLthedinosaurs · 05/01/2017 01:38

Alfreda is a beautiful name... just saying Wink

BeaLola · 05/01/2017 02:04

For anyone with a DM /S or SIL or MIL from hell why not start putting NPeter or Ra into baby conversation as to being your current favourite names and see what happens ...

A couple of years whilst sitting bored at soft plat chatted to new Mum in next tabke and baby called Riley Roo Treacle - can't remember their surname - brother who was about 2 years older was called Allin - pronounced as ALAN !

Choccywoccyhooha · 05/01/2017 02:08

Yeah, it's a joke. A posh people joke.

Chrissiecat · 05/01/2017 03:00

I like Xanthe, took a long time for me to find out it is pronounced Zanthe (I can't be posh enough!).

Wigbert and Euclides sound like insects to me, I am thinking of earwigs and centipedes.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 05/01/2017 03:12

Wigbert! 😂😂😂😂

1horatio · 05/01/2017 07:12

Alfreda is a really lovely name. Alberta was already on our list, but I dislike the nickname Berta.

But Scar...?! 😂

Nataleejah · 05/01/2017 07:27

Koala and Yak Grin

MardAsSnails · 05/01/2017 07:59

I want a child now, just so I can call him Wigburt
