to use a teapot?

I don't know anyone (aside from my pensioner parents, and they're in the minority amongst their friends too) that uses one. And until recently I never saw the point! I don't know what's changed, but six months ago I bought one. And I use it every day. Tea tastes so better. It's also spotty and verra cute.

I think I'm gonna buy a milk jug and a sugar bowl so I can serve tea to guests all proper like, instead of pouring it in the kitchen like someone who's ashamed of her teapot.

Aibu? Teapots are the superior way to make tea, right?

Yes teapots are much better but do increase washing up!

YANBU I have just bought a new teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl with some Christmas money. I used to use one and got out the habit and have been searching for a nice teapot for months.
Definitely get a much nicer cup of tea from a pot.

Teapots are bloody amazing. I have big family and friends teapots and a smaller mug-for-me size teapot, which is in almost constant use. 3 minutes brew time, no squeezing bags to remove them from the water... Tastes sooo much better.
Love my tea from a teapot.

I have always used a teapot , and loose leaf tea , but maybe thats because I am old ! :) . But my DD uses one too .
When we had workmen a couple of years ago, the foreman said he had never tasted such good tea - so I let him into the secret .

I have one and I treat myself every day to a proper cup of tea. I've started buying some different loose teas as well.

A teapot is the only way to make a cup of tea. I love mine. Doesn't increase washing up as I just swill with the boiling water and tip out then brew as normal. The tannin in the pot helps the flavour Smile

Another teapot fan here!

I absolutely hate knickknacks and ornamental things - but I can disappear into a teaware(?) website for half a day. And find reasons for potentially needing several different ones for different teas through hours and seasons.

YANBU. As you say, the tea tastes so much better (and you don't need to wash the teapot Crumbs just a quick rinse each time, so no extra washing up required) and it saves money because you use fewer tea bags. I nearly always want a second cup and with a teapot, it is there ready for me without needing to make more. What's not to like?

Both DP and I are tea fiends and have always used a teapot, even when we were in our 20s - can't stand teabag in a mug tea and we have at least 3 big pots of tea a day between us - morning, after work and before bed.

how do teapots increase washing up? They don't need washing up, and the cup's the same either way - I suppose you need to wash the saucer you're slurping the hot tea out of too which you wouldn't if it was a mug...

Fellow teapot enthusiast too. My mum always used one, and so do I.

So much that my brother bought me a rather lovely one a few years ago for Christmas.

Yes, but we really don't have space to store them, they take up a lot of space. I have a compact steel one, it's very stylish but doesn't make tea that's as good as a pottery one. I also have a sugar pot, but the lid isn't airtight and none of us take sugar so it goes rock hard, I'm afraid I save sachets from cafes for any visiting sugar-takers.

I can't drink tea made in a cup, it's just not the same, love my teapot.

Teapots don't need storing. They live on the worktop near the kettle. Even pre-extension, when we had the world's smallest kitchen, the teapot was always out as it was in constant use.

My mum and dad use a stainless steel one with a tea cosy. They only drink loose leaf tea. The pot gets bleached about every two months or so. The pottery tea pots go colder quicker.

Mine is a Picquot Ware teapot, which is aluminium. It makes the best tea ( it is also, I now realise looking at them erm a collectible ) I also have a big 'party' teapot which dispenses 8/10 cups .
I have never washed mine out. Me or DH occaisionally chip off the tannin layer on the strainer bit of the spout, as it can clog up
I have lots of tea cosies too Grin

We don't have enough space for one to live out by the kettle. There's room for the kettle, toaster and space in front for actual use but that's all. The steel teapot lives in the cupboard above, but you couldn't fit a big pottery one in there.

I don't like it made in a pot - 1t cup is ok, 2nd cup is always either too cool and/or stewed. What are we doing wrong? I am very fussy about my tea temperature. Just 2 degrees out is undrinkable

Crumbs, you should never wash your tea pot! Only ever rinse it. It's like a cast iron pan, gets better with use and age!

Vindication of my teapot and lack of cleaning it out! Grin
I have a metal pot with a tea cosy.
When we first moved in together DH cleaned my teapot as a surprise for me. He's not made the same mistake twice!
