AIBU?

to use a teapot?

I don't know anyone (aside from my pensioner parents, and they're in the minority amongst their friends too) that uses one. And until recently I never saw the point! I don't know what's changed, but six months ago I bought one. And I use it every day. Tea tastes so better. It's also spotty and verra cute.

I think I'm gonna buy a milk jug and a sugar bowl so I can serve tea to guests all proper like, instead of pouring it in the kitchen like someone who's ashamed of her teapot.

Aibu? Teapots are the superior way to make tea, right?

Does the type of tea pot make a difference, ie ceramic vs steel?

Think i've found my people!
I have a small glass individual pot, which self strains the leaves. and two larger family sized teapots for when we have visitors.
I like Assam best.

We always have tea made in the pot, it's much nicer. I hate tea at work made in a mug.

Can anyone recommend me a teapot that doesn't jeffing drip?? I have a Le Creuset stoneware one and one that's part of my dinner service (Johnson Bros Blue Denmark) and they both drip - or am I overfilling them?! I need one that makes about 3/4 smallish cups of tea, ideally.

Are the Emma Bridgewater ones any good? We live near the outlet!

I have a beautiful Whittards Mad Hatter's Tea party teapot.

I've settled on dishwashing it every other month to prevent scale build up and keep it looking bright. Otherwise I just give it a good rise out.

There was an old saying that the number of teapots you got as wedding presents was the number of children you would have!

We got one as a wedding present - and had two kids! Grin

We still have our teapot (China) nearly 35 years later!

I have a beautiful Polish pottery one, which does not drip. I have a Blue Denmark Habitat one, which pours well, and two Whittards ones which are great as well. I don't like stainless steel ones, but I do like my Bodum glass one with an integral infuser.

We have a Suki teapot, you see them in lots of cafes.
I crocheted a tea cosy to fit.
Everyone who visits likes the little bit of ceremony involved in setting the tea tray, well, I hope they do. The fact that someone bought us lovely white and gold teacups for Christmas suggests that it's ok.
I need a bigger pot though, Suki pots are tiny.
Sadly, I can't have caffeine so I am off to look at decaffinated tea leaves today.

Mine goes through the dishwasher when I remember.

I have one although I don't drink tea very often. It has mr happy on it though so there's a possibility that cancels out any grown up points I acquired by owning one..

Hmm, might have to dust off that old wee brown betty standing on the kitchen shelf, and see if all these claims are true. I haven't made tea in a pot regularly since my student days. I still have the old aluminium pot, bit battered now, though!

DH is buying me a tea set for my 30th birthday and I'm ridiculously excited!!!

Aaah yes. I love the ceremony of it. My problem is that I only really like piping hot tea so the tea cosy needs to be really good. We unfortunately broke the pot that we got for our wedding ( now has herbs growing out of it) so we're back to tea bags in mugs . I did have a lovely orange Japanese one on my wish list for Christmas but no one took me up on it! Maybe it's in a sale.... off to check.

I'm inspired. Getting one with my Christmas money. Any recommendations for one that pours well?

I use O2 laundry bleach to clean mine along with the strainer and mug.

Just checked it's not reduced 😩. It's 1.5 litre capacity. How many cups do you think that would make? 17 cm tall.

My teapot has sprung a leak so it's time for a new one. I can't find one I like, only fancy glass ones.

SpiritedLondon - I have a large Le Creuset teapot with a broken spout so growing herbs is a distinct possibility. Could I ask you, though, how and what herbs have worked? Sorry, I have the opposite of green fingers but would like to know and grow!

The Dribblesome Teapots was one of my favourite books as a child. It is a selection of short stories but the main one is about the Queen not being able to find a teapot that doesn't dribble.

Isabelle great hilarity at your question since I am great at killing plants. We have lemon balm growing out of ours but only because I had some seeds left over. Husband just optimistically planted in potting compost and we watered when we remembered.

I use leaf tea so a teapot is a must. I have 7 and they go in the dishwasher apart from the fine bone china one with gold trim, which gets hand washed. Old fashioned cups and saucers for me too! ☕️

I like my tea black and weak now, so no longer use a teapot.

I do use a diffuser, though, because I use a teabag (red bush) more than once and the one I've got has a small cup that it goes in, so it's a similar effect as using a pot.

I have a Denby one that doesn't leak, but I'm a bit nervous of using it every day because it is for best. I suppose I should just do it anyway because it's not a bloody ornament!

We already had two teapots and my husband and I each got a new one for Christmas. We don't use them for every cup of tea, but tea definitely tastes better when we do!
