AIBU?

to use a teapot?

I don't know anyone (aside from my pensioner parents, and they're in the minority amongst their friends too) that uses one. And until recently I never saw the point! I don't know what's changed, but six months ago I bought one. And I use it every day. Tea tastes so better. It's also spotty and verra cute.

I think I'm gonna buy a milk jug and a sugar bowl so I can serve tea to guests all proper like, instead of pouring it in the kitchen like someone who's ashamed of her teapot.

Aibu? Teapots are the superior way to make tea, right?

Teabags are the cause of the decline of Western civilisation and vice versa.

Tea is made in a pot (previously heated in boiling water) with loose tea; and if it isn't it'snot tea.

And the pot is swilled out but not cleaned with anything else. Over time it builds up a layer of tannin which improves the tea.

Tea pots drip, and the second cup is always stewed and horrible. I won't even have a kettle cos they drip as well.

I have three tea pots (a stump tea pot for one, an every day large tea pot and my fancy one) I actually have an entire fancy tea set Blush
I like making proper loose leaf tea. If I'm using a normal tea pot I'll use a tea strainer.

Oooh there are lots of lovely new ones. I have Brown Bessie for everyday tea, a China one to match my dinner service and a Christmas one. A little one if I am on my own.
I also have a Christmas pudding tea cosy too. I couldn't resist it at a craft fair.

Other people must have their tea much cooler than I like mine. I've never had a cup of tea that's hot enough for me from a teapot.

That's where the candle under ours works well.

Heat the teapot first, then it stays really quite warm for ages with the candle (it's very disappointing when the candle goes out on us!).

It's very important to warm the teapot first!

I'd always scald the teapot first (I do that with my mug, anyway) but the tea still always seems cool.

Doesn't the candle mean the tea ends up stewed, HungryHorace? If not, something like that might go on my birthday list...

Stainless steel teapot on top of stove - keeps tea toasty. Will you venture next to fine China cups or are you there already at perfect tea?!

@DamsonGinIsMyThing where is your teapot from? I think I am in love!

I don't drink tea but family members do so I have an aluminium one that goes on the hob to mask (stew) for a bit after pouring the boiling water in (had to buy a new one specially that would work when we got the induction)

I hate tea made in the tea pot. It's either too weak, or too strong, or too cold. I always add milk first and can never gauge the right amount so I end up with weak, milky warm tea. Yuk. Make it for me in a mug every time please.

It was from Tesco, random impulse purchase. She's so pretty. But she is unnamed unfortunately.

I've always used one and my DS who has just gone to uni also uses one. Probably not every time but it's definitely been used. Tea tastes better

BigDamn I don't think it's stewed (I'm sensitive to the taste of stewed tea too). It's just a really good system! Well worth the £25 I paid in 2010 for it!

The best thing about a teapot is being able to make "bubbly tea". As the tea brews in the pot the mill can go in the cup first. Then pour the tea from quite a height and it aerates it and produces a lovely thin layer of tiny bubbles on the surface and makes it taste extra nice.

I've used tea pots with loose leaf tea for the last 10 years as my oh introduced me to it. It's a different drink!

I have recently started using a teapot and the tea tastes SO much better from it. I take my tea black, so it's the perfect temperature from a teapot.

Just bought myself a lovely teapot and cup from T2 yesterday for my birthday gift from my mother! It's brilliant with my white jasmine loose leaf tea

I tend to use a pot if making more than cup but if I'm on my own in a mug, stainless steel pot, tea tastes better.
