Like those where the OP writes hardly anything and expects others to entertain them.

Now you go.

OP posts:
SemiNormal · 28/12/2016 10:58

Reverse threads. Don't talk to me in fucking riddles.

00100001 · 28/12/2016 10:59

The ones where people claim "not to notice usernames" but feel the need to complain about user474747382828282939393 Grin

The victorian safe type ones.

SittingDrinkingTea · 28/12/2016 11:00

The ones where someone, often a new member, comes on with a serious issue and all people do is pick apart their use of language.

"You can't say your child had a meltdown unless they're autistic, your child had a tantrum."

"You can't say your child had a paddy, that's a racist term."

"You can't say idiot, cretin or moron, they're disablist terms."

"You can't call your MIL an old cow, that's ageist."

I'm all for not causing offence with the casual use of language, but there's a time and a place for tackling it and that time is not taking a very upset poster to task on their own thread.

Tinkerbec · 28/12/2016 11:03

Just the general use if any abbreviations. I have been guilty myself and have later wondered why?
Daughter dd
Pil aghhhhh
What is wrong with real words? It is not a tweet a d makes reading so much easier. I have had to google abbreviations before.
Let's be pro literacy like every lesson at school has to. I know we are not kids but still ifyswimGrin

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2016 11:03

I don't understand how you can not notice usernames. The problem with the user12345678 ones is they all look the same -that's what I notice.

Also I cba to bold or quote them.

pithivier · 28/12/2016 11:05

The ones that start with "I'm a long time lurker' and then quote old threads just to prove their credentials. Just get to the fucking point.

lilyb84 · 28/12/2016 11:05

I just assume 'user347254726362' is all the same person. Their life is intriguing.

Bitlessbahhumbug · 28/12/2016 11:06

I've started pointless threads, threads were I could Google, a very recent trip to London with 2dc thread Blush but isn't it pretty obvious that most of us are here through boredom, loneliness or whatever? Isn't it replacing normal chit chat? Which is mundane much of the time.

It's just about your mood isn't it? Some days it's great to read MN some days it's really annoying.

I've started hiding threads. Then I sneak back to have a look to see if they've become less annoying. They have usually continued to be annoying. That's a shameful level of boredom isn't it?! Xmas Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2016 11:06

DH is way easier to type than 'My husband'.Plus it's something everyone understands.

I hate posts with emojis in. Especially the crying with laughter one. The MN smileys are just fine.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 28/12/2016 11:06

The ones where the OP pretends to be a toddler, cat, dog , lost toy, character from a kids tv show.

Utter bollocks.

Cutted up pear was funny but that's about it.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 28/12/2016 11:06

Tinker Abbreviations are used on all forums though - they are just a shorthand. I guess nobody wants to type out 'mother in law' 'father in law' etc

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/12/2016 11:10

I hate threads that go off on one for posters using the features provided. Like the one where we were all told off for crossing things out.

I also hate threads with long, rambling OPs. I stop reading part way through and close the thread.

SirChenjin · 28/12/2016 11:11

😂🤡😸💋 🦋🍟 Sparkling

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 28/12/2016 11:12

The thing with not really noticing the usernames is usually a backlash against the 'I really miss [insert name of regular poster]' arse licking threads. And in the same vein, those same arse lickers who bemoan the loss of a particular poster when everyone used to have a go at said poster Grin

I notice some usernames but only either very very regulars or the ones who have been cunts to mesometimes one and the same

Also hate when people say 'f*' - either say fuck or use an alternative word.

lilyb84 · 28/12/2016 11:12

I haven't seen any of these threads from the pov of a child/pet/TV character! I'm intrigued now!

2rebecca · 28/12/2016 11:12

The ones that aren't AIBUs like this one. Choose a different section like chat to post in.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 28/12/2016 11:13

Oh there was a 'spoof' one yesterday - it wasn't remotely funny and yet people were howling Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2016 11:13

Those are they. Sir. Except two of them are teeny tiny boxes so I can only see the Hmm crying face, a box, a cat, lips, a box and is it chips? Confused Grin

lorelairoryemily · 28/12/2016 11:13

'Discuss' and 'am I pregnant'

They drive me crazy! If you can't read a pregnancy test or buy a second one to be sure maybe it's better if you're not pregnant!!

ilovesooty · 28/12/2016 11:16

Generalisation such as "AIBU to think all men are bastards /all old people are bigots/ all pensioners are selfish / all JSA claimants could get a job if they tried a bit harder"

user1481838270 · 28/12/2016 11:16

Threads where any poster who disagrees with the OP receives a torrent of f-words and c-words. Abusive replies have become almost normalized here.

MrsJayy · 28/12/2016 11:19

I always think really when i read i miss they were obnoxious and rude how can you miss them.

user1481201991 · 28/12/2016 11:20

Ones where the title gives no clue as to the actual topic/content of the post (e.g. 'Help needed!')

I'm off to work out how to change my username!

CaraAspen · 28/12/2016 11:20

The threads in which people genuinely engage and offer advice only for the OP to ignore it all, pretty much. This goes in for hours and hours but the outcome is usually the same: the OP disappears.

Walkacrossthesand · 28/12/2016 11:20

I move away from threads where opinion is divided, the OP has long gone, and it's just poster after poster giving their view which is identical to those expressed by numerous PPs. RTFT guys, if someone has already said what you were going to say, you have nothing to add, so there's no point in posting. Humph.
