Like those where the OP writes hardly anything and expects others to entertain them.

Now you go.

OP posts:
Bitofacow · 30/12/2016 16:29

Do you think Kate is posting a mil thread.

Aibu my mil has pegged it but the family won't tell anyone, should I phone the police?

Lweji · 30/12/2016 16:32

You are joking, but here in Portugal we are waiting for a former President to die. He's taking his time. Maybe he wants to start 2017 on a bad note or go for the last significant death of 2016.

Tropezienne · 30/12/2016 16:34

What SirChenjin says. You explain your reasons why you don't and you're told how bloody well wrong and stupid you are..

Chippednailvarnishing · 30/12/2016 17:00

SAHM v WOHM, ahhhh the never ending debate over whether it is better to let someone else bring up your children or spend your days shopping whilst your DH slaves away to provide your shopping money.

I wonder what Liz (dead or alive) thinks.

Tropezienne · 30/12/2016 17:15

"Trigger Warning" in a thread title. If you're that flipping delicate should you be even looking at a public web forum?

Lweji · 30/12/2016 17:19

I wonder what Liz (dead or alive) thinks.

Maybe she's the one who started the thread about having "man-flu".

redshoeblueshoe · 30/12/2016 17:23

Spoilers
after the final of Strictly someone started a thread, Do you think Danny should have won ?
People were sooooooooooo enraged MNHQ altered the title, as it contained spoilers, but it didn't - the programme had already been shown !

Bitofacow · 30/12/2016 17:31

Is saying Liz has corked it a spoiler

UnbornMortificadoAtChristmas · 30/12/2016 17:33

Hidden disability threads because of course it gives you priority over a wheelchair user.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/12/2016 17:43

I've been reading an article (I can not link in phone!) what will happen when the Queen dies.
If she dies after an illness (so expected) the BBC will control the announcement & cancel all comedy programmes until after funeral.
If it's unexpected (accident or such) the news will probably spread on social media before BBC can make official announcement.

There will be a 12 day mourning period. Lying in state, MPs sworn in (and apparently Republicans allowed to cross their fingersGrin) & new stamps & coins made with King Charles's mug on it. National Anthem wording will be adjusted accordingly, and Prince William will become Prince of Wales.
Then the Royal Funeral and burial will take place.

I'm not sure when the Coronation will take place.

Bitofacow · 30/12/2016 17:49

Zing that raises some interesting points

1 - was the article pier reviewed?

2 - do we get a day off work for the funeral?

3 - if we are talking about it does that mean it is real?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/12/2016 17:57

Bitofa

  1. No idea about pier review (hahaha)
  1. I'd assume day off is inevitable. Don't know
  1. I Googled 'Queen not dead' and several "Buckingham Palace forced to confirm Queen has not died" type stuff came up.
Most recent one 2 hours ago. For now I presume she's alive (I was oblivious to the social media hysteria about her alleged death)
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 30/12/2016 18:01

Oh and I simply presume that article is based on facts as all those things sound very reasonable.
I also presume all major details have been arranged for decades. They must have been.

RustyBear · 30/12/2016 18:29

My BIL (a diplomat) said he always had to have a black tie handy, wherever he was, in case a royal died and he had to comment on tv.

tooclosetocall · 30/12/2016 18:42

Threads about baby names on birth certificates.
We really like the name Roderigo for our DS but we like the name Axel as well, AIBU to use Axel as a nickname for Roderigo?

The AIBU wedding posts re: no kids/no invitation/stingy hosts/requests for cash.

Kissup replies to MN officials after they have commented on the thread. You know who you are Smile

The ...and all that jazz.

More hilarious than annoying and I have never eyerolled more.

tooclosetocall · 30/12/2016 18:44

For a moment there I thought I had posted on the royal announcement thread (is she isn't she) by mistake.

tooclosetocall · 30/12/2016 18:47

Oh and the threads with apologies for posting Daily Mail links.

SquitMcJit · 30/12/2016 18:50

Anything about " ripping/ tearing him/ her/ them a new one". So grim.

TheNaze73 · 30/12/2016 18:53

When people say "are you on glue" & think they're funny for saying it

GilMartin · 30/12/2016 18:55

Do you think Kate is posting a mil thread.

Aibu my mil has pegged it but the family won't tell anyone, should I phone the police

Her mother in law is Camilla. The Queen is her husband's grandmother.

limitedperiodonly · 30/12/2016 19:00

The ones that are outraged about the Independent online lifting a thread about wedding presents.

'I expected it of the Daily Fail but not the Indy...' Shock

ODFOD. Maybe if you'd bought the arse-achingly boring Independent in paper form they wouldn't have to do it and you'd have noticed that someone scurrilous had bought it quite a while ago. And why are you so obsessed with the Daily Mail if you don't read it?

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 30/12/2016 19:03

Oh yes the wedding threads. Especially "We are getting married and have lived together for 8 years so we have everything we need,WIBU to ask for cash for a gift?"

By the responses you'd think they were considering asking people for a kidney donation!

"If you live together what do you even need presents for?"

It's really quite reasonable to expect a wedding present isn't it? In Real World (not MN world).

I personally much prefer being asked for cash then I don't have to arse about finding a gift they will probably hate or even worse scrounging through a limited gift list. I don't understand why cash is tacky? I'm not buying the whole "people don't know how much you've spent if it's a gift" - if they care so much they will google it!

RustyBear · 30/12/2016 19:11

Her mother in law is Camilla. The Queen is her husband's grandmother.

Kate's changed some details so she doesn't get outed....

SarcasmMode · 30/12/2016 19:12

• the ones where a poster(s) state the obvious as their only reply and offer no extra help.

OP: DH has left us for OW. We have 6 kids 13,12,10,7,5,3 and 1. The youngest 2 are still at home so can't work. Should I feel bad for claiming benefits?

PosterObnoxious: well you shouldn't have had so many kids with a cheater really op! I don't know what you expect us to say.

• complaining about presents. Don't like your perfume or fluffy bear? Big deal. Someone buys me something I'm not keen on I smile and say thanks. If it's someone I'm close to I'd be miffed but not angry. The fact they even bothered at all would mean something.

• disabled toilet / seats for disabled on trains and buses - it always ends up being a fight on who is the most Isabel's/whether that is a legitimate disability.

• what are you eating tonight threads - because they often make me jealous.

SarcasmMode · 30/12/2016 19:15

Oh and troll hunters. Report, don't make wonky passive aggressive suggestions they are not real especially if it's a delicate topic because if you are wrong that could be really hurtful to someone.
