...That Next online is sold out of everything!!

I thought I'd go online and look for a couple of new suits for my new job in January. And like hell am I going out today, the football is on tv!!

So went on and thought 'This is amazing, it's available in 8L (which never happens)' Went to the bag to be told sold out! I've tried it with other items and sizes and it's as if the website hasn't updated with things that are sold out. So everything is as if you can order until you go to pay.

Very lighthearted, just frustrating that I thought I was getting a lovely new suit for £32!!

I had a Next VIP slot on the 23rd and nearly all the decent things were sold out then.

BlueNeighbourhood · 26/12/2016 14:44

Apologies I have totally just posted this in the wrong section, excuse me while I go have my frazzled head slapped and then message HQ to move it!

Snap...yes,waste of time looking

Footle · 26/12/2016 14:51

I just thought you must really really love Next and are mortified that it's not reciprocated n

JemimaMuddledUp · 26/12/2016 14:52

I had a slot on Thursday and most of the things I wanted were either sold out or on an 8 week wait (so unlikely to materialise) even then.

I went to the store this morning and wasn't hugely impressed either. I got some jeans, PJs and jumpers but that was all. Even DD, who was hugely excited by being allowed to come for the first time and had Christmas money burning a hole in her pocket, only bought a handful of things.

I found the same with Boots - everything I liked was out of stock online yesterday and this morning there was hardly anything in store. Admittedly it is only a small store but I was expecting better bargains.

BlueNeighbourhood · 26/12/2016 14:52

Footle - oh yeah that too! It's a major disappointment they don't feel the same about me as I do about them :)

I looked yesterday and it was all just shit.

hannahjm81 · 26/12/2016 14:53

So...... anyone have any baby boy ideas that go without florence? We like strong English names and I like the idea of a longer name...! Happy Christmas x

WellErrr · 26/12/2016 14:53

And ALSO I buy pretty much all the clothes for my three children at Next and I've NEVER had a VIP slot. Fuckers.

Sorry wrong thread Confused

TapDancingPimp · 26/12/2016 14:55

It's the fact that they still advertise the items as available on Next and allow you to add them to your basket that pisses me off.

Surely in this day and age it's not beyond the boundaries of technology to remove the items from their listings once their sold out?

Blacksox · 26/12/2016 14:57

I don't get why Next is popular either. Their clothes are 95% awful.

DanyellasDonkey · 26/12/2016 14:58

I have given up on the Next online sale and so-called VIP slots.

At the summer sale I ordered loads of stuff for my holiday. All of which was out of stock or 8 week wait.

I'm going to the shop tomorrow so hopefully they will still have some stuff left.

JustSpeakSense · 26/12/2016 14:58

Everything I had my eye on is sold out too grrrrrAngry (it has, however, cheered me up no end that you posted this in relationships Grin)

ForFiveMinutes · 26/12/2016 14:59

WellErr I spend a fortune in Next and they stopped sending me VIP invites which really pissed me off. But if you know there is a sale coming add /vip to their website address and it takes you to the page to book a slot

JemimaMuddledUp · 26/12/2016 15:00

Some Next stuff is horrible but their basics are good - jeans, basic cardigans, jersey tops etc. Their workwear is fine. Same for the DC, and one of the few places where I can get 28W/33L jeans for DS1. And their sale reductions are good - 50% off straight away.

LunaLoveg00d · 26/12/2016 15:18

I don't get why Next is so popular? It's overpriced junk.

Totally agree. They have a shit hot marketing department though which is good at creating hype by sending out VIP slots and getting the poor staff into work at the crack of dawn so that people think that the sale is obviously super-special.

Next clothes are OK. Very middle of the road but nothing special. Perhaps slightly better made than supermarket/Primark (but three times the price) and not a patch on the more expensive stuff. I used to get a few things there when the kids were tiny, now they're older a lot of the stuff is far too "out on the pull with my mates" clothes and totally inappropriate.

Also loathe the head to toe in Next (or any shop for that matter) look which many mothers aspire to.

Serialweightwatcher · 26/12/2016 15:20

I went on this morning to try to spend my vouchers on the sale stuff - this happened last year too, that whilst adding things to my basket it kept reducing in number and everything was getting sold out as I was typing - I gave up in the end because the ONE jumper left in the basket was going to take 7 weeks to get here and I wasn't all that keen but it was cheap ... will try again in a couple of weeks

WilburIsSomePig · 26/12/2016 15:21

I don't understand why anyone would come on and say that Next are shite. If you don't like it, don't buy anything from there. The OP obviously does like it so fine.

We all like different things, there's no need to tell someone that something they like is shite, it's rude.

BlueNeighbourhood · 26/12/2016 15:32

To be fair I only buy workwear and loungewear from Next - my normal day to day clothes are from Jack Wills, Levi's Topshop. I'm very middle of the road which I do love!

However, it was literally just a gripe that modern technology should allow the website to say things are out of stock rather than allowing the order to go through to the basket. Jack Wills was fine this morning, no reason at all why other companies can't do this.

Theromanempire · 26/12/2016 15:35

Absolute suite- went on at 9am this morning and there was 9 items in total available in DS2'S size and 19 in DS1's, the majority of which were wedding suits Hmm

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/12/2016 16:13

Next has really gone downhill in my opinion. Their basics are good, and the school uniforms and they do sell some nice labels but some of their stuff is just vile. They're going the way of M&S in their attempts to please everybody.

I forgot to pay my account last month. Got a stern reminder. Had to pay double this month. They still invited me to browse the VIP sale.

TapDancingPimp · 26/12/2016 16:16

Once they're* that should've read Blush

Massively delayed reaction to spelling error there Grin

YouTheCat · 26/12/2016 16:20

Have people still not worked out that most sale items are just the utter shite they can't sell?

Given the number of people with 'VIP' status on Next do you not think it's all a massive con?
