Couple joining us on holiday

I feel so bad about this and need some help rationalising it. DH and I spoke about going to Italy for our anniversary in May and said it would be nice to invite friends to join us. I found a good deal on a hotel we like and booked it for a week. We talked about having a meal on the last night and inviting friends to that. I mentioned it to my step sister and her husband who DH likes and we had discussed inviting them. She asked me for details and I wrongly? gave her our dates for flights and hotels. She then booked the trip so same dates and same hotel.

Initially I thought that was fine but I told DH (on phone he is away working) and he sounded really gutted as he wanted people to stay elsewhere ideally and just join us for the last night. I now feel dreadful as feel I've spoilt things for DH and obviously I can't retract the invitation to my step sister. Now I am panicking about something I was really looking forward to as I feel I will be stuck in the middle managing being polite and friendly with step sister and her husband and panicking that DH will be annoyed they are going to be around all the time.

I told him we won't be together all the time and he says it's fine- in that way you know it isn't. Have I totally messed up? How can I put this right?

I really don't understand how people survive to adulthood being so self absorbed 😳

when u speak to your step sister just say, it's our anniversary obvs, so i'd like to plan a few romantic day trips/meals out that dh will do as couple, i'm sure u and ur oh will want some alone time too. and leave it at that. u don't have to be joined at the hip. it's weird your oh wanted people to come to just a meal in another country, but if he feels worried about having to be with them all the time just make it so it's not.

I am so confused by the idea that you'd invite friends to go with you on a holiday but you only want to see them on the last night? This plan was going to go belly up at some stage, it's a bit odd to be honest.

Crazy.
We got married last year in Tenerife.
Invites went out to lots of people on a come if you can basis.
During the wedding week we got together for the ' Hun ' night and the stag.
16 of us stayed in one hotel...so plenty of meals together.
A lot of the men went paragliding and jet skiing so the women went along to watch.
14 of us went to the zoo on the morning of the wedding and after week one when the family went home we spent a lot of time with the other couples.

Why would you not want to do that?
It's made memories to treasure . People came from all over England and Wales to see us married and spent she'd loads of money to do that ...heavens above the least we could do was give them our time.

Weird. Just weird.
