To wake my neighbour up in the middle of the night every time her rabbit wakes me up?

She keeps it outside my bedroom window, but far away from her house.

So everytime it starts thumping it wakes me up, I do wear earplugs but they often fall out overnight.

She's gone away I think as her car is not there and it has been thumping constantly for almost 12 hours :(

The poor nugget is probably scared, they thump when they perceive danger.

If she's been gone 12 hours please have a look and make sure bunny is ok. They are greedy and will eat all their food quickly.

Not nice of your neighbours and by all means, do what you can to wake her up, but Please please check on bunny. If her hutch doesn't have a cover there may well be a fox/predator lurking and she can seen it

Poor you as well though, that must be very annoying. Have you ever mentioned it to her before? Definitely worth having a word with her. Also if she's not back by mid-day today I would be very concerned for its welfare. If no one else is checking on it.

I think it's probably out of food, water and covered in species. She's a terrible owner by the amount of times she just leaves it locked in a shed.

The rabbit is kept in a shed and only let out in the summer.

Hav a peek over the fence it's water may hav run out. I mean I know it's not your responsibility but I would check and see if it's possible to refill if needed. When she gets back go round and explain the rabbit is antisocial and keeping you awake and ask if she can move the hutch, she probably has no idea. .

I've fed it through the window before, when she's bugged off in the summer on the hottest weekend and left it in the shed with the window closed. RSPCA haven't been any help. I'm quite surprised it is still alive tbh. Or maybe they keep dieng and she gets a new one :(

Steal it and let it have a hop/some company. Rabbits shouldn't really be kept alone if no human interaction. Mine thump when pissed off too, never thumped more than once or twice, I'd be worried about that bun.

Mine used to thump when he was hungry or lonely never known a bunny to love his ears being fussed but he did!

I would by this point be preparing to break in and take it. It's most definitely eaten it's food, it's hay and paper is probably soaking/ needing changing and it's most likely needing a water top up.

Would you consider taking more action? Perhaps photos and calling the rspca? Kidnapping? She needs to be reported if she's left an animal with no care for a long period of time. Poor thing must be so unhappy.

Surprised the RSPCA aren't bothered - maybe try them again, sticking to concern that it is alone in a dark she'd all the time (annoying as it is, they won't care so much about the noise being a nuisance!)?

Abbis mine hated people. Hated us! He was a pet turned wild bunny who roamed the garden and demanded feeding by us mere hoomins. Bloody loved that rabbit though I did. I feel sad for this little one in the shed :(

If the RSPCA won't get involved, I'd be tempted to cut through its cage in the dead of night, liberate bunny and then take it to a shelter ("I found it roaming free!") in a few days.

But I'm a total hooligan and I expext others have better ideas.

I feel for the rabbit but telling the OP to steal it etc is not on.

Steal the rabbit and take it to a animal shelter, no defenseless animal deserves a shit life. I've taken on many a rabbit from a life like this.

Tell the RSPCA that your calling the newspaper about there lack of response? They hate negative press

Is it the national number you rang or local? Local shelters/pet hospital tend to do more

That poor rabbit!! I know it's annoying and it shouldn't be your problem but I don't think I could stand to see an animal distressed like that! I'd do what I could for the poor thing (it's Christmas!!!) please check on it and give it a carrot and some water. I would also call rspca again and be very forceful!

When you see the owner show her this thread and tell her how cruel she is being. She could either step up, or take steps to have the bunny rehomed.

Is the Rabbit on it's own? Rabbits are extremely social animals and need at least one mate (in fact, in Switzerland it's illegal to keep one lone Rabbit - 2 minimum).

YY to checking on food - they are greedy and will eat all their food quick and then could be going many hours without food - Rabbits digestion is constant, and if it slows/stops (GI Stasis), it is often times fatal.
