To wake my neighbour up in the middle of the night every time her rabbit wakes me up?

She keeps it outside my bedroom window, but far away from her house.

So everytime it starts thumping it wakes me up, I do wear earplugs but they often fall out overnight.

She's gone away I think as her car is not there and it has been thumping constantly for almost 12 hours :(

When you said Rabbit. I thought you meant something elseBlush.
RSPCA aren't bothered. If they don't care about the welfare of animals. They shouldn't do the bloody job.
If they won't help.

I agree about taking him to animal shelter. Poor little thing

OnionKnight · 26/12/2016 13:27

It will not die, I have a rabbit and she is very spoilt but it is not the OP's rabbit to take.

Imagine if the OP took the rabbit and the owner got the police involved, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out who had taken it.

witwootoodleoo · 26/12/2016 13:28

I couldn't bear it knowing the poor animal is suffering. I'd liberate it and take it to an animal sanctuary and deny all knowledge.

kerryob · 26/12/2016 13:30

RSPCA will come out, the rabbit shouldn't be on its own, probably senses a fox nearby, our rabbit thumps once or twice when he's in a grump but when it's constant we know the neighbors cat has got in again and he's scared.

TrionicLettuce · 26/12/2016 13:44

It's worth trying the RSPCA just in case but don't expect much action. They're notoriously useless (even more so than usual) when it comes to rabbits. According to them there was no issue with my neighbour dumping their rabbits (they had four or five) out in the street to fend for themselves Hmm

kali110 · 26/12/2016 13:49

rspca are shit.
I'd steal it, absolutely.
That poor thing. Making me really upset Sad
How dare she fuck off and leave it. Angry
Some people should never be allowed animals. Vile.

kali110 · 26/12/2016 13:50

Rapca won't come out, they don't care. Animal has to be practically dying for them to move their arses.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2016 21:48

Can you record the noise he makes? Your neighbour will have no idea if the rabbit is far away from the house.
Tell her you want him situated in a different spot.

If she's away long term, then check on the rabbit if you can but be careful feeding him. Things like carrots are very high in sugar. Grass is better.

The keeping of livestock in a shed - they can easily overheat. My guineas have a wooden playhouse but the windows can be removed (they are re-inforced in the space left, with bars, wire mesh and fly mesh to keep out vermin and flies) The temperature in summer can reach epic proportions if you don;t ventilate . Poor blighter will suffer heatstroke and possible flystrike ( horrible way to die)

Can you put a note through her door : " Date/time - Dear NDN you're probably not aware but your rabbit is really really noisy, you need to address this for my sake but most of all for the rabbit"

Animal husbandry (or lack of) over-rides the need to pander round her.

mygorgeousmilo · 26/12/2016 22:48

I'd steal it and take it to a sanctuary. All those saying stealing is wrong...... yep, but being cruel to an animal is up there with the worst of the worst. That poor rabbit doesn't deserve to be cooped up for its whole life, what a miserable existence! Take it and anonymously drop it off somewhere

UnbornMortificadoAtChristmas · 26/12/2016 22:50

I thought you meant a different type off rabbit too Grin

I'd call RSPCA too, poor bunny.

kali110 · 27/12/2016 20:21

mygeo i'm the most law abiding person there is, but when it comes to animals, i wouldn't hesitate to take this rabbit and give it a better home Sad

MissCherryCakeyBun · 27/12/2016 22:53

Please try the Blue Cross if the RSPCA won't help

Sheld0n · 27/12/2016 23:30

Re. 'liberating' the rabbit - some are microchipped so NDN may be able to trace it to OP or simply track it to a shelter and take it back to the same shoddy conditions.
Just saying so as I know someone who did the same and the shelter told her they needed to check for a microchip before taking the bunny in as a stray.
I feel sorry for it, I would be tempted to take it in myself, too. Sad

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 27/12/2016 23:37

OP hasn't come back to the thread but if (big IF because I don't want to slander anyone) if she is the same poster who posted about her bunny problems some time ago, she had a much more novel suggestion for resolving the issue in mind.
