There's nothing wrong with mushy peas with a roast dinner - is it a northern thing? My grandma always did it, wax beautiful.

WHAAAAT??!!

That's more than grounds for divorce - they are the worst thing on Earth; they have the taste and consistency of vomit.

Vile. Vile. Vile

Go and see a Family Solicitor no later than Wednesday.

This has made me so jealous. My Nan always served mushy peas with a roast, I loved it. I remember her putting them in to soak every Saturday. They were the best roast dinners in the world!

Badhairday1001 · 25/12/2016 22:28

Ellypoo - yes definitely Northern and quite old school I think, people don't tend to do it so much anymore. They probably don't have time to soak the peas.

awayinamazda · 25/12/2016 22:28

It sounds like a 'regional' thing OP, my heart goes out to you - maybe next year ur DH could distract them when u arrive, while u ferret thru their larder and confiscate such items? It's for their own good in the long run ;-).

e1y1 · 25/12/2016 22:30

I must have missed this - I am Northern and never known mushy peas on roast leaving out that I wouldn't eat them if they were last food on Earth

Badhairday1001 · 25/12/2016 22:33

They serve them at our local carvery too, as part of the veg on offer with the roast. They seem a popular option.

dingdongdigeridoo · 25/12/2016 22:34

You don't have an in law problem, you have a DH problem. He should have stuck up for you and told them that their veg was unacceptable. LTB! Xmas Angry

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 25/12/2016 22:39

Did DH apologise for his parents or get stuck in..?

I love Bachelors pre soaked peas. I didn't know that you could still buy them..
I would love them on any roast dinner.

Tinned mushy peas? I'm not a fan - but as I can't remember the last time I had a Christmas dinner cooked for me, I would eat them gladly.
