Ffs. Just spoke to my mum and she is planning on half cooking the turkey now and finishing it off tomorrow. I told her you can't do this with poultry.

Aibu to not let my family eat it tomz.

She has lost it!!!!
I'm right aren't I???

She can cook it totally now, let it cool and overnight in fridge if it's already in...or cook it all tomorrow.

No! just NO!!! I mean she could cook the whole thing today and then slice it and put it in the fridge but half cook it? Where did that idea come from??!

Maybe she meant gammon... maybe she is boiling the gammon today and finishing it off in the oven on xmas day.... I'm clutching at straws aren't I?

I've just text her and told her I've googled it and she needs to cook it or she will kill us. She is 75 and been cooking Christmas dinner all her life. That's why I can't believe what I've heard!!!

Don't know why it fell out of favour probably because everybody who did it died and the method with them.

That's scary! I've currently got the potatoes in water for the morning and the stuffing balls are cooking, other than that, nothing else until tomorrow!

Sounds like the sort of thing my own DM would have come up with! I think it's a miracle that I actually survived to adulthood when I look back at some of the misinformed,daft things that my DM did. Like freezing bacon,defrosting it then re-freezing it. Twice. Or opening a packet of liver sausage spread for example,on the 1st March and using it for 5 weeks,'because it had a use-by date saying 5th May on it'. Yes,but that date applied to the UNOPENED product. It also said 'Once opened,keep refrigerated and USE WITHIN 4 DAYS'. And using cheese and bread that had mould on, just scraping it off,a practice that I have since learnt,can be quite harmful.

Why has she suddenly decided to do this? My mum used to fully cook on Christmas Eve then carve and reheat slices in gravy on Christmas Day.

My mil wanted me to half cook the turkey tonight and then the rest tomorrow. I am ignoring her advice.
