Check your papers? Hmm

MummyStep123 · 24/12/2016 09:29

National or international?

icanteven · 24/12/2016 09:29

At gate by 2pm, start boarding at 2.20pm.

rosesandcashmere · 24/12/2016 09:30

The gate would likely close at 2.30 so you'd need to be boarded before that

SillyMoomin · 24/12/2016 09:30

It will say online or on the boarding cards or online checkin Confused

But usually boarding is an 1hr - 45 mins before the flight. Checkin will usually close an hour before

cherrycrumblecustard · 24/12/2016 09:30

I'd get there a couple of hours before

We always aim to get to airport 2 hours before flight.
Check in usually closes at least 30 minutes before fight time. Boarding begins at least 15 mins before flight time.

OdinsLoveChild · 24/12/2016 09:33

Isn't check in from around 2 hours before take off and boarding anything from 1 hour down to 30 minutes before takeoff? I have known the boarding gates close 30 minutes before takeoff though if it's a busy flight. It's dependant on the airline and destination.

Obviously the gate opens at least an hour before actual getting on the plane.

MauiChristmas · 24/12/2016 09:34

Depends a bit on airline and if Europe or further. Don't ask here, check yiur travel papers. But yes it's 9 am now and do get at 3 you have a few hours you don't need to be heading to the gate yet

OhTheRoses · 24/12/2016 09:35

If flight's at 3pm, I'd aim to arrive at 1pm with an hour's grace built in. It did go tits up one time - we checked in with 20 mins to spare and literally ran to the gate before mega security checks

ShadowMane · 24/12/2016 09:35

Whats the AIBU?

Why on earth didn't you just Google it? Or go to the carrier website?

I could say oh turn up when you're ready, they'll wait for you.. or you have to be there the day before.. could I be lying?Hmm

GlitterGlue · 24/12/2016 09:35

I'd be at the airport far earlier than two hours before at this time of year.

insancerre · 24/12/2016 09:41

The gate might be open at 2pm but you are likely to still be going through security at that time
It can take a while to clear security, so you really need to be planning on arriving 2-3 hours before your flight

troubledsoul12 · 24/12/2016 09:42

Thank you one more time

OP posts:
insancerre · 24/12/2016 09:44

Can you check in online?
It does save time

Salmotrutta · 24/12/2016 09:47

Did you sleep in or something OP?

Or has some other unforeseen delay happened?

I'm just nosey!

Hope you get there on time - FWIW we always try to get to the airport 2-3 hours before a long haul.

Good luck!
