To ask how much your Xmas food shop cost?

Prompted by another thread in which people are horrified by the fact op has spent £200 on food for 4 adults and kids for Xmas day. Made me think honestly how much I've spent.
£40 on a goose and beef
£80 on alcohol
£177 on Asda shop
£100 on m and s 'bits' and flowers.
This is for 4 adults and 2 older children for Xmas day and Boxing Day, hoping to last a few days afterwards on leftovers as well.
That's nearly £400!! That's mad isn't it.

I was $380 at the supermarket and $290 for booze . That is for me, Dh 3 young adult children and an 11 year old. That includes the spread I put on Christmas eve, the big kids and their mates stop here and eat before going drinking at another mates house.
I have to say though, I ordered prime rib for Christmas day dinner, bone in, untrimmed and from the chuck end, 4 ribs. Was prepared to pay through the nose for it. When I picked it up I discovered that it was on special for $6.77 a pound !!!!!!. I got an almost 12 lb prime rib roast for 83 bucks. Made my Christmas

I am heartened by the fact lots have spent similar sums to me, I was expecting lots of posters who have managed dinner for 12 on £12.50

Turkey was £97 plus stuffig and kilted sausages it all came to £130. Then the rest of the shop came to £110 i think so.. £240

3 adults and 4 kids...we have very simple. Bits from m and s £36, turkey breast joints £10, gravy etc £5 table decor £5, aldi baileys and other alcohol £10. So about £66.

I spent £140 in Aldi on Sun, some of it was "normal shopping" and some Xmas stuff and booze.

Spent a further £160 in Sainsbury on Weds, mostly Xmas stuff.

Going back to Sainsbury's tomorrow for more.....

Had 3 adults and 4 children last night.
Tomorrow 3 adults and 2 children
Xmas day 5 adults and 2 children.
Boxing Day will be left overs for 3 adults then out all day on 27th

Iv not read the thread yet but

Over 3 shops Iv spent between 250-300 plus a cake from m&s

That included enough alcohol to sink a ship (not normal but we're trying cocktails)

Christmas dinner for 5

a weeks shopping for 4 adults for all meals and snacks

Also a few food gifts for people like chocolates and jellybabys

Sixty six quid today in Morrisons and likely another thirty for drink.

That got us snacks and things for next few days, cheese, biscuits, crisps and dips, sweets, breakfast stuff for fry ups for Xmas day and Boxing Day and rolls for tomorrow, lunch for tomorrow, stuff to make lasagna for dinner tomorrow night, selection boxes and fruit, ingredients to make a sticky toffee pudding for Xmas day. Fresh juice.

No dinner needed for Xmas day, Boxing Day dinner will be Chinese at inlaws. So considering it only had one meal and no alcohol fairly expensive.

I have finished and added it all up and it came to just over £300

I don't think I have ever spent that much before. It's for 10 of us and will cover three days. It just kept adding up it seems.

Well, including the Aldi 19p veg, a ham for £12, a Xmas log at £7, and cream, custard, gravy. Stuffing and pigs in blankets around £6.

Something like £24 for the main dinner, for 5 adults, 2 dc.
£50 for a box of a dozen wines. Fizz given to us from dh's work.
Cheese bought in France at approximately £8, and some crackers, I think it's quite a bargain.

But, we are going straight up to mil's on a 4 hour drive on Boxing Day.

About £150 for all Christmas day, for 6 adults and 1 child from Ocado and the local butchers. That includes the 11 different cheeses I bought heh heh. Plus the special buys for the gluten free vegetarian and the lactose free attendees.

No booze included, I'm providing the food so others are pitching in on that front

I feel better reading this thread.

I spent £170 on Sainsburys online shop. 2 adults and 2 dc. But that does include all the food for a Boxing Day buffet for 9 people as well as Xmas eve supper, Xmas dinner, supper, and then quite a few bits I can make last until New Years. Oh and wine.

But we don't like turkey and we don't drink spirits so big savings there.

€80 for turkey crown and 1.5kg ham (organic butcher... we buy almost all our meat every week from him and think it's worth it)

€55 for vegetables / snacks / deserts / slow cooker curry tonight

We are childless and this year after two stressful Christmases, we are being anti social bastards - we have renamed Christmas 'FOOD FEST'. My ham is currently boiling, tomorrow I'll bake it and tackle the desserts (pavlova, baileys ripple cake and a random caramel cream cheese cake). Turkey and the roast vegetables are Sundays dinner, but the main event is lobster for lunch

We don't do Christmas presents so I think we are not so bad

Good for you Pani . Enjoy! I've just tried to work out from receipts my actual spend. It is probably more like £650ish all told. But like Pani we've had a horrid year. Last Christmas was just dreadful. This year is lovely and will continue to be .

Kind of nothing because I had a £100 M&S voucher to spend but total for 2 adults for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and general nibbles was about £85 today, £15 in Lidl on nibbles and pudding, and £25 last week on an igloo penguin cake. Today's shop includes £15 on turkey, £20 on wine, roasties, sprouts, carrots, pigs in blankets, stuffing, gravy, cheese and biscuits, and mini bites like scotch eggs and sausage rolls for Boxing Day. Plus a few bags of crisps and baked camembert for our starter.

We always have Baileys, whiskey, Advocaat and Port anyway so I don't count that.
