Prompted by another thread in which people are horrified by the fact op has spent £200 on food for 4 adults and kids for Xmas day. Made me think honestly how much I've spent.
£40 on a goose and beef
£80 on alcohol
£177 on Asda shop
£100 on m and s 'bits' and flowers.
This is for 4 adults and 2 older children for Xmas day and Boxing Day, hoping to last a few days afterwards on leftovers as well.
That's nearly £400!! That's mad isn't it.
AIBU to ask how much you have spent?

We have spent about £200 on food so far. Will probably spend about another £50 on canapés tomorrow. That's for 8 but one of our guests is bringing cheese and another is bringing dessert. Will spend about £100 on alcohol tomorrow too!

£200 for Christmas week, I haven't included staples such as cereals and loaves of bread for some daft reason.

Tomorrow is going to be a fucking nightmare!

£30 on meat but that includes all of it including turkey, rib of beef, sausages, stuffing, bacon etc.
£105 on general shopping, more than usual because I have decided to cook less this year. But includes washing powder, dishwasher tabs, toilet roll, cleaning stuff etc.
£90 on wine but that includes prosecco for NYE.
£40 on beer, lager, cider for entertaining.

That's £265, to feed a family of five which includes 3 adults, for ten days (won't go shopping till 2017) plus five additional for Christmas dinner, eleven additional for Boxing Day, overnight guests for two nights, a party buffet, NYE, and New Years dinner for seven.

It doesn't include the curry we will be getting on the 28th though. £30 approx.

So £295 though I haven't ruled out a trip to the shop tomorrow .........

Bought it all in today. 2 adults and 1 child but there will be a couple of days worth of left overs.

£30 in Aldi and £36 in Tesco. No alcohol included. DH will be getting some beer and baileys for himself at some point to tomorrow. (I don't really drink anymore).

We are not doing a starter this year either. I can see how the bill can spiral out of control as I was tempted by so many things but honestly it's just one day and there is only so much you can eat. I will be looking in the reduced to clear section come Boxing Day to buy up all the party nibbles and meat at a fraction of the price. I always do this and stock my freezer so we can eat well for a few weeks afterwards. (And get through the skintness of January)

We're away this year but in previous years with all the family (15 adults & children) it comes to about £800 for two full days food.

£210 to cover xmas and all of January (although I will need to top up fresh fruit and Veggies each week).

About £350 for 7 people but that food shop will last approx 10 days. Didn't buy booze as loads left over from cocktail party we hosted last week- I always over cater!!
There's enough crisps and dips to feed a small army and I cook every meal from scratch so although it's a lot of ££ I like good ingredients!

Its a bit crazy really. We have 2 adults and 1dc 11yr old. We did the shopping today - €179 in M&S and €150 in Aldi. This included turkey, ham, salmon, seafood, prosecco, wine, beer, baileys.

We also bought a fair few treats and stuff like nuts / crisps / cheese / crackers / olives

We will have various visitors over the coming 2 weeks and will use everything up.

This year I've spent £39. I have added bits to my normal shops for the last month so that's probably another £30 but that's about it. Family of four.

About £85 for 4 adults and a child that includes both bank holidays but not much booze - just a bottle of prosecco and bottle of red. Aldi.

A fortune on 2 adults and 3 DC, who cares, I've saved up and Christmas food can stretch over days.

£80 turkey, you must be able to make at least 6 months of dinner left overs from that bargain.

How do you all keep track? I've been buying desserts and chocolates amd other bits and bobs in with my normal shopping for weeks. Spent £85 in Aldi and £65 in Waitrose yesterday but that is nowhere near what I've actually spent. I wouldn't know where to start if I tried to calculate a final amount.

It cost me about £10 more than a usual week Confused

Our turkey cost £82.49 - it's 8kg. Blush

FIL buys it though, it's some special organic breed that's lived a life of luxury and had a spa day before slaughter.

Including alcohol we have spent;

£236 on our Sainsburys delivery.
£137 on our Tesco order.
£75 on turkey, hams, pate & cheese from Morrisons.

For 5 people - three adults (including 19 year old DS1), 15 year old DS2 and 5 year old DD. It will last us until just after New Year, with the possible exception of needing extra bread & milk from the local shop in between.

If none of us drank alcohol, I imagine our spend would be less than half of this amount.

Around about £200 for 2 adult and 2 children.

For just Christmas Day and Boxing Day we've probably spent about £150 on food - but that's for 10 people. I've spent loads more on stocking fillers and random Christmassy stuff in the last couple of weeks... all in bits and pieces so I kid myself that I'm doing Christmas cheaply, but no way would I want to add it all up!

Report
Crunchymum · 23/12/2016 22:03

£70 Morrisons online
£120 Sainsburys (redeemed Nectar points)
£50 M&S

And we're not having our Xmas day dinner at home so this doesn't include anything like turkey etc..

Finally got to the shops today after a manic week. Couldn't even get into the Aldi car park so went to Sainsbury's and ended up spending more as a result.

£170 in total for 2 adults and a baby (and cat!) but that's for the next fortnight and includes beer for DH (I'm still bf so not really drinking), a really nice stinky cheese from a local deli and the smallest saddest turkey crown you've ever seen which still cost nearly a bloody tenner Grin

We'll now only need to top up a bit for milk/bread/fruit until mid-Jan.

£46 delivery from tesco for myself and 1yo ds. Normal shop mostly with some christmassy nibbles thrown in as we are having christmas dinner at my mum and dads. Will grab more bread if needed during the week but i get my milk delivered so i know im okay with that

£126.00 in Sainsburys and £85.00 in Coop. Coop was mainly booze and some extra bits, it came to more than I anticipated.
Also about about another £60.00 on chocolates and other bits and peices. Its for 2 people and includes my contribution to the family Christmas dinner at my mum's. Ive spent more than normal this year but dont think I'll need to do another main shop for a couple of weeks.
