I get married next year. I have to go on a diet. I'm horrible. Obviously I'm getting pretty stuck in now and will start afresh in January.

I have 10 months would like to lose 2 stone. Is this doable? I'm currently 12 and a half stone. Yes I'm disgusting and horrible and I feel awful about myself. Would like to drop a dress size more importantly than lose weight.

Please tell me best plans that you have followed and have worked.
Thank you !

You need time to exercise. If you don't have time to exercise because of work and family then buy a piece of gym equipment and put it in front of the TV. I have a very wealthy relative whose trainer said "never watch TV siting down". She had her treadmill in front of the TV. You could do it with anything really . Get your HIT bits during the day and then work with weights or anything else you like in the PM. Have got one of those videos where very enthusiastic skinny women make people move very fast. They would work too.
If you have time for gym and or slimming class that's great but you can make yourself feel trimmer without them.
And there are always the slendertone things for the days when you are just too tired.
You will look lovely whatever weight you are on the day.

The thing that has changed my body shape the most (sucked every thing in, and made me look longer and leaner) was yoga. I got Barbra curry 7 secrets of yoga DVD for about £4 on findDVD.com, it's split into 10 minute sections so I fit it in most days.

I lost 2 stone in 3 months with combination of myfitnesspal and walking.
Started in January and cut out alcohol for the month. Also went for 30min walk each lunchtime. Lost a stone. Relaxed a bit in Feb, started drinking alcohol again but kept up MFP and walking. Lost half a stone each month in Feb and march.
2 years on and I'm still down 2 dress sizes from when I started having kept off the weight. No major changes, my husband didn't even realise I was trying to lose weight whilst it was happening. No fuss, just minor alterations to how I ate and then walked more.

I'm about 5'4. I carry my weight on my stomach and hips.

If you want a reason to go walking then why not volunteer to deliver leaflets/newsletters for a local political party? There are local elections next year and canvassing will start in January.
If you tell them what you're willing to do in terms of frequency and duration, they can give you a route, leaflets and all you have to do is put in the effort and walk 😀

I've lost loads of weight walking - 2-3 dress sizes when I started and now, I keep my weight under control by upping the miles if I've over indulged.

If you do chose paul McKenna, I recommend 'freedom from emotional eating' its more in-depth at getting to the root causes of why you over eat.

Ive been doing it for nearly a week now and I feel amazing. Losing weight but the main thing is I don't feel stressed or anxious with all the Christmas treats around, I feel in total control. Which is a huge deal for me because I eat for emotional reasons 90% and actual hunger 10%.

It also gets you in the right frame of mind for exercise and fitness, you find yourself naturally gravitating towards a healthy lifestyle without even noticing it.

tigerdriverII · 23/12/2016 22:23

Try not to think about weight but about fitness and how you look. Your height makes a huge difference but also your body type. I'm 5' 4.5" ( yes, that half inch matters) and at 10.5 stone I was very slim and a size 10. I was, however, only just in the 'healthy weight ' category. I'm a lot heavier now but have had lots of compliments when your weight and still fitting into 12-14.

I'm doing SlimmingWorld since Jan 6th and have lost a stone already and it's really easy to follow because no food groups are cut out. I've tried low carb etc. and they work but not sustainable for me. SW is sustainable and there's so much support available from class, FB, online. I only want to lose another stone and for the first time ever Im confident I can do it and sustain it. Good luck to you in your search for what works for you 😊

Tigger1986 · 15/02/2017 23:19

Definitely do able :) I joined slimming world 5 weeks ago, I was about same weight as you and I've lost 9.5lbs so far. Try the body coach workouts on YouTube, only 20 mins but you will be seriously sweating as it's high intensity stuff. Try exercising before you eat (either when you first get up or before evening meal) and you'll definitely see a difference. I've been up and down with my weight for a while but you've got a good goal and motivation to reach it. Good luck Smile

I had 6 months to lose 2.5 stone for my wedding last year. I cut down to 1200 cal a day and did 10 mins weighted hooping and 10 mins 5lb weights every night and the weight slid off (I've put almost a stone back on but still within health bmi so not worried). I also made sure i moisturised well to help my skin. Good luck

TheCatsMother99 · 16/02/2017 11:51

I lost just over 2 stones in 3 months on slimming world and that was without the use of a gym. I was a similar size to you when I started too.

It's definitely do-able and you won't really feel like you're on a diet most of the time.

My main tip - stay for the group chat, it helps you stay focussed and you pick up lots of tips to keep you on track and make you feel less like you're missing out.

TheCatsMother99 · 16/02/2017 11:52

Oh, and I'm 5ft 4 too and carry it in the same area Smile

maddiemookins16mum · 16/02/2017 12:19

Totally doable. When I was getting married I went on the "white plate diet". This was own made up diet. My white plates were my small dinner plates. I put the normal plates up the loft. It cut my portions down by a third. I cut out a lot of processed food, ate more veg and salad and fruit. Drank less sugared tea AND stopped drinking wine.
I was getting married at the end of May. I weighed myself on NYD, I was 13 stone 8 (😳), on my wedding day 5 months I was 11 stone 11. My size 20 wedding dress needed taken in two sizes two weeks before the big day!! YOU CAN DO IT.

987flowers · 16/02/2017 18:40

tigerdriverII I find it amazing how different people carry weight. I'm 5ft7 and at 9 st 7 I cannot fit into many size 10s at all (and definitely not size 10s of 20 years ago before vanity sizing). I'm trying to get down to 9 stone as that's what seems to work for me. I think this shows that bmi is quite a crude measurement!

987flowers · 16/02/2017 18:40

Oh and good luck for the wedding I'm sure you'll look gorgeous
